the goal of this will be to make a fantasy band comprised of non-olp members

we will do this by using polls and ill post 4-5 people in each poll, the winner of each poll will create the CM fantasy band.

this thread will be for the position of lead guitar
the poll will run for 7 days.

James Iha is pretty good, but non of them are really competion for Navarro, ask any guitar buff, kirk is alot of hype i think, and Tom is pretty amazing, but i find him kinda repetive at times, once again more hype then actual skill, not to say he still isn't amazing

true... i was trying to use more bands from 90s and on..... but i couldn't resist throwing floyd in some of them.

I went with Navarro, because I just wanna see Grohl on drums!

i voted for morello. i love his "video game guitar" as i call it in the new audioslave cd. all his solos are amazing and refreshing.

I went with Morello. It was up between Navarro, Morello, and Grohl, then I realized Grohl isn't that great of a guitarist to begin with, so he was out. Then I chose Morello because I figured no one else would.

So yeah, this thread is screwed up. A halfway decent guitarist whose real fame came from playing drums in a band where the lead singer was a pussy and killed himself is in the lead. Makes sense? Dave Grohl = decent guitarist. Not great, but decent.

yeah he's a very talented Drummer but people are just choosing him because he's Dave Grohl, they don't seem to know much guitar stuff

To the unaccustomed ear, yes. He just has a really unique (and heavy) style.

meh, i wouldn't call my ear unaccustomed, i've played guitar enough to notice, and i listen to alot of great guitarists, although i'm not being totally fair seeing as how i haven't heard as much Tom work as Dave's other then Audioslave

That's what I mean. Once you listen to even just Audioslave for a while, you can see how different the stuff is.

It's like how someone who doesn't listen to country thinks it all sounds the same, whereas a fan of country knows the difference.

thats because alot of country IS the same, maybe not exactly but same theme, instruments, tuning and structure
