Their first two albums (Dig and S&F) were amazing albums.

But then BGO, and i was sooo dissapointed with them. Not musically, but i couldn't stand Brian's voice. I remember thinking that Summertime in the Void would be the best song ever had Edwin sung it.

And then they went away for so long. I completely forgot.

But then I heard Liike the Sun and it blew me away. Brian's voice was about 20490408460840486 times better.

In short The Quicksilver Meat Dream is the best album i've bought since Spiritual Machines and IME rock (especially live)!

yeah its amazing, he sounds exactly the same live as in studio if not better, i noticed he got infinatly better too, but even though for the first 3 months i heard BGO i HATED brians voice, it actually grows on you a lot, it no longer even sounds strange to me, just good :) As for the stuff i have, it's not ultra rare, but many people probably don't have it, so i'll reveal my goodies soon

I adore sumertime in the void. It's one of about five songs i've heard and i really like them all. for some reason i've never really checked them out though.

i'v only heard juicy and like the sun and both of them seem pretty mediocre. when the lyricist was asked what like the sun was about, he said he didn't really know.

I think I may be one of the few people on here who actually liked Brian's voice on BGO from the get-go... I think I bought the album the second day it was released and I was thoroughly impressed with the sound... it must have been in my CD player for a couple of months straight! I remember taking it to all the big track & field meets to get myself pumped up for the races... needless to say, I ran some pretty fast times that summer while listening to them before the race!

P.S. Clumsyboy: any more hints as to what your media goodies are?

--> Speaking of IME media goodies... I used to have a lot of cool stuff that I recorded on tape, including all of their videos, their performance of One More Astronaut at the Much Music video awards back when that single was huge, and a half-hour special of them performing live songs on the CBC series "Music Works" when Edwin was still frontman (which was an awesome show!)
I still have a couple of regular videos left from this era, but I have no idea what happened to the tape of the Music Works show (it's been lost for a few years now!) and my brother taped over the MM Video Awards performance :(... crappy luck huh?

in order of my favourite IME album to least favourite:

1. QMD
2. BGO
3. SAF
4. Dig

Most people think I'm crazy but I can't stand Edwin's voice and think that Brian is way better, even on BGO. Also, Quicksilver Meat Dream would probably make my list of top ten albums I've ever bought.

 Sweet! IME fans!
As for Sandman not owning TQMD, GO GET IT! Brian is about 100000000 times better and it's safe to say he's passed Edwin off. Not to mention Brians live performance is amazing, where as Edwin's live singing was hit and miss. But yeah check out TQMD. Oh and to anyone reading this wondering what old IME is like, if you like Edwin (the solo artist) check them out.

PS The goodies arn't that Rare if you've been a fan for a long time, but i personally found them quite rare, they're all video

PPS As for the lyrist (Christian) not knowing what they're about, he probably does, he preferrs not to talk about his lyrics to much, and he leaves them cryptic, he also write like a abstract artist. Although if your referring to Brian being asked what it meant, brian only write a few of the lyrics, Christian has always wrote lyrics because edwin couldn;t, so when brian came they just stuck with Chris, Brian was more worried about vocals

speaking of lyrics, have you got any idea what 'I is Us' is about? At first listen it sounds like it's about the joy of hating women, but I somehow can't accept that that's what it's about.

Hey Clumsyboy, speaking of IME videos, were you ever able to download those classic Dig videos & others that were posted on imotherearth.com? Man, I'd love to get a hold of them, but the links seem to be broken now.
