I would recommend having them listen to older stuff (Naveed / Clumsy CDs). Chances are your friends are creating their opinions based on the songs currently on radio, which isn't a good representation of OLP's talent, in my opinion.

Well, most of my friends like them and the rest never really heard anything from em.

I relentlessly bombarded one of my friends with OLP and now she likes them. You could always try that. It took a couple months, but it worked.

You don't need to force your friends to like the same music as you. I mean, if someone thinks they suck, that's their opinion. Any comments you may get can be easily shrugged off. I do it all the time. And hell, the comments usually come from people who ... well ... really, don't have much taste, other then that given to them by the media.

Most of my friends are pretty open-minded about music so they either like what they've heard (which's usually very little), or they're just indifferent...

I tried to convert one of my friends to OLP but she judged the music too fast and I mean FAST. She told me she played "4am" and "Are you sad" but shut them off in like the first 5 seconds cuz they were too slow.
Meh, all she listens to is Avril Lavigne

None of my friends are OLP fans.
and it sure would be nice to go to an OLP show with fellow fans.
BUT my friend is starting to like them.

i kind of prefer that my friends dont like the music i do. it just makes it that much more special to meet people with similar tastes. The only downside is that i have very few people to go to concerts with, unless mainstream bands are playing.

Yeah, I've got my share of retarded friends as well. My best friend was getting into them untill she heard them on Conan O Brian. She was like, they are fake, they can't play live and he can't sing at all. They did sound terrible on that show. I just told her they prolly didnt get to do a sound check. She didn't care, she just dismissed them. But that's ok because she listens to Sugar Ray and they blow.

I've been pretty lucky. My girlfriend is a huge OLP fan. My best fried likes them enough to see them, and all of my friends enjoy them to some degree or another.

who gives a crap what your friends think. i prefer to at least feel unique in my musical tastes rather than cruise around on the bandwagon.
