Advertisers are smart cookies. They'll find ways to slip ads into paid webpages.

Would you rather have a big annoying pop-up ad for Viagra helping pay for CM hosting and what not?
Or a small simple ad for something related to the site and sponserd by a fellow CM'er?

I'm not looking to start a fight here or any kind of a rift.
I simply asked Al, "Hey I'll pay you $10 for a small chunk of space on CM. Not a pop up and not something useless, unrelated, or annoying."
He replied "Sure, I could use some extra cash to pay for the hosting"
Not so much in those words but you get the point.
If this small ad causes a CM wide uproar then I won't renew it. That simple.
In the meantime whats 2 weeks going to hurt?

whoah im confused last time i checked al wasnt paying for the cm anymore unless it is an imaginary charge that appears on my credit card bill every month. It isnt a big deal just since I along with kim and jacqui pay for the site was wondering where this ad came from.

It's still wrong to sell space on a site he doesn't own anymore. I understand he is in debt, but he shouldn't be selling the space.

It takes 3 people to pay for this site?? How much in hosting fees are you paying?
What kind of bandwidth does CM pull down a month?
If I had known there were other people involved in the payment for the site i would had approched this ad differently but I'm sure the majority of people here (Average vistors, not hardcore must post every hour, CM is my life types) figure Al is the fearless leader behind CM. That's why I approached him and not you.

its not a lot of money but i just dont get how al didnt ask us first, of course i would have said no problem and put the ad there for free but i dont know this just kind of got me upset. no big deal.

The ad doesn't bother me in the slightest, but IMHO, if Al doesn't pay for the site anymore, he shouldn't have the choice to put an ad there or not (no offence Al).
