I'm not talking about Big Macs

... I'm talking about the computers.... I was just wondering how many people on the CM if any own a Mac.... I sure don't, they are too expensive for me.... The ironic thing is that I repair them though...So if I ever had one I would be set hardware and software wise.... Just felt like seeing what your thoughts were on Macs

I'm eagerly awaiting the Athens PC being created by Microsoft and HP. Just from the pictures you can tell it's a contender against the Macs. Btw, that thing on the left is a telephone set/media command center, and yes the thing on the right is a camera. The PC is still in its early design stages and won't be out until 2004/2005, it will cost around $1700.
Some cool features include:
- Quick turn on/off, so you can get to work (or play) 2 seconds after pressing the "power button."
- It's a small form machine. Yes, that little blue box is the actual pc, and its designed to be whisper-quiet unlike many of todays computers.
-It automatically mutes any sound when you receive a telephone call. Speaking of sound, the speakers are high quality, akin to those in Macs.
- That's a very high quality screen there, akin to those from Apple. It's around 20" I believe.
- Indicator lights on top of the monitor quickly gives you information.
- Everything is wireless, the keyboard, the mouse... not sure about the pc but though..

I wanted one of the color macs .. but they don't make them anymore .. then I only recently found out there's no disk drive to them or cd burner etc, etc and all that has to be bought seperately so really .. it's not worth it. I just wanted a cool colored computer

The colored Macs are neat.... But yeah it does suck that they didnt have the ability to burn cds.... But what is cool is that Apple had a Snow I-mac that went out of production a few months ago, it had the ability to burn and play DVDs... So if uhad access you could just order a colored outer shell for it and get rid of the white one

.... The new flat pannel I-macs are nice... but no room for expansion

... Thats why Macs other than towers suck..The other bad thing about Macs for the user is that only a service tech can order/intall parts from Apple... Making it where the consumer has very little options when it comes to repairing or upgrading their Mac

I am a rabid Mac person. Don't listen to these losers (or be swayed by that pathetic Mac knock-off in the picture). They merely do not understand superiority.

My friend has a colored imac and is pretty good other than the hard drive, only 20gigs, he can play DVDs, burn DVD, and burn and play cds, so it just depends on what you get with it.

Macs are only "superior" in one area, and thats in media editing. (video, music, pictures) ect.

Yeah, but the HD is very simple to replace and upgrade

And you can easly upgrade a PC. Macs are just designed for the technically handicapped

. Upgradewise a Mac is just a PC on training wheels.

Macs are designed for the intelligent, innovative, and aesthetically minded individuals willing to pay a little more (although nowadays the prices are just about equal) for quality.
There is only one thing that PCs are better for and that is for software, especially game, variety. I don't play computer games, so I am quite happy in my choice of computer.
Oh, and by the way, since the introduction of OSX, which I have had for nearly a year now, my computer has never ONCE frozen, crashed or caught a virus. It is very important to me that I not lose data due to a crappy system and so this fact yet again reinforces my wise decision to own a Mac.

Lando, have you had any video issues with your E-mac yet? As in Geometry not keeping or discoloration ?

Win Xp is amazing. Gotta love a OS that is easy on the eyes, can run almost anything, and rarely crashes.
