It's election time in my province, and i was wondering what parties most of you Canadian Youth like, i guess the americans can voite too if they know the parties.
NDP: Canada's most leftist party, farther left then anything america has to offer but not exactly crazy commies. basically known as party of the people, offering education funds and health care, basically hated by the wealthy because of lack of tax cuts. Ruling party of my province, only party with a female federal leader, only party to stand against japanese camps during WW2, inventors of Medi-care. Progressive.
Liberals: Like to walk the fence in the middle of the spectrum, a blend of Conservitism and Progressivness. Ruling party in Canada for a long time to come...., basically same place in the spectrum as America's Democrats. Safe choice if you don't know who to pick, you'll always have someone who's not to radical.
PC: Right wingers, range from moderate to extreme. $$$ holds top priority. smart with money, also hated because of Mulroney, father of GST. Generally close minded and conservitive. Anti-change, based around money, traditional values and safeness. Usually Moderate version of America's Republicans. Good leader ship
*Shudder* Alliance: .........Crazy, Pro-War, Ultra-conservitive, sometimes in the closet racists, ex-leader was a retired minister who still beleived the theory of evolution to be bullshit. tradition oriented and close-minded. Somtimes Champion of the west.

I prefer liberal. As much as people hate Chretien I still like the policy of the party, and depending on your area it can kinda varry.
Then again in my region we have an amazing NDP rep as our MPP, so I guess it's Liberal for Federal and NDP for Provincial

all of em other than the liberals
i prefer the liberals mysef... and i also have a lot of respect for chretien standing by what his values are and given he used to grow up in the presence of lester b. pearson the man responsible for the founding or creation of UN Peace Keepers.. is it any wonder chretien didnt send troops for a war he didnt believe in?! heh..
it takes a lot to stand up to the states like he did.

way to go chretien

yeah liberal is my second choice party, NDP rule Manitoba with a iron fist though which is good, every now and then there's the odd conservitive uprising, but NDP are going to win. Liberals are non-existant basically here. Not that people dislike them it's just people are at both extremes, they either are full right wing, or full left, and seeing as how most pf manitoba is not wealthy business people, NDP Rule supreme.

i'd like someone who is willing to admit: "hey you know what? the school system sucks, and we're fucking up, we need to raise taxes to improve the education system" and then would actually do it, not fuck around with the money. since the rich get more money it's right for them to pay more, and when we cut it's only right that the percentage be even all the way through every tax bracket, allowing the rich to save more money, only because they make more money. then i'd want the guy to have this attitude in Foriegn Politics: "hey guys, money talks bullshit walks. lets get along with each other and make us ALL some money. Hey you, quit threatening me, i'm telling you right now, i'll fuck you up!" then i'd like the guy to think for himself, not stright along party lines, or straight on his beliefs, i want this guy to think openly on a case by case situation.
so what catagory do i fall under?

umm... none in Canada... we don't get threats from other countries plus we don't have a military strong enough to "fuck someone up" nor could we care less about that.
and at least in Ontario education is improving...

Actually, what he described is exactly the liberal mentality (the party you said you preferred) Liberals believe that the wealth belongs to everybody, not just those who are able to obtain it. What Reno is suggesting is that the rich pay more because they have more. A conservative would say it is their money, they are no more responsible to help society than anybody else, wealth or no wealth. Conservatives still believe in taxes, but they don't believe they should be a greater victim then those without money.

our liberal party was against the war and military action. I think Liberals in Canada have slightly different beliefs than those in the states.

actually that would probably be NDP, some people hate them cause they raise taxes and use lots of $$ on health and education, if teh alliance and pc had tehre way there would be no health care, alberta already is trying to get rid of it

also, my oppions may have been slightly biased, but nothing i said was untrue, and i did state teh basic ideals, i tried to say nice things about each party.......even the alliance
PS after re-reading them they're all true, in fact even though i'm personally not PC i said many good and true things about them, the only party i wasn't fair to was the alliance.....and well that's because i had trouble tiniong up something nice, so all i could come up with was "champion of the west". Still i said NO untruths in that explanation.

yeah see, where i'm comming from we're short 9 billion dollars. (Texas) and the constitution says that the legislature is not suppose to run on deficit spending. when this happens, the government wants to use every godamn red cent. so that if there is an unexpected expense (like over paying HMO's, Natural Disasters, and Homeland security) you don't have any money to cover it. to top it off we elected a Republican that went on the ticket that he wasn't going to raise taxes. 9 billion in the hole, with no new taxes = budget cuts. This makes schools cut teaching jobs, tuition higher, classes that i need unavailable, and other state government agencies lose 7 to 15% of their budgets. (every year for 2 years so really it's like 15%-30%) We could have raise taxes to lift the burden a little bit but no, no new taxes, because we have a shit stick that is thinking along party lines.
i think i might move to Canada, this shit my State Government is pulling is crap. It's nice, and cold, and they got some kick ass boxers like Arturo Gatti and that Dorin guy. Damn that was a good fight.

well the beauty of canada is that we have a 4 parties, well more then that but the marijuana party isn't going anywhere...........although beleive it or not there's a person running in the west end of my city that's with the communist party, and she's actually respected by many people......not that she's going to win...
