rachel's song

rachel's song.
rachel stands alone facing down a coward
who hids behind his shining steel
his mind is empty as he demonstrates his power
the wounds he caused will never heal
the sunbeams do not reach the ground
blocked out by the overcast skies
through the air soars the sound
of a hero's dying cries
a tear gas funeral is all she had
as she lay there buried with the flag
that turned it's back
o say can you see?
the condoned atrocity
by the dawn's early light
o what a waste of your might
it just isn't all right.
and rachel stood alone against the horror
of serrated bayonets and genocide
paid for with american dollars
this just can't be justified
bravery, compassion and heroic spirit still
were the weapons of our peaceful hero
a martyr whose blood they did spill
wearing only armour of convinction and soul
a tear gas funeral was all she had
as she lay there buried with that rag
that turned it's back on her
o say can you see?
the condoned atrocity
by the dawn's early light
o what a waste of your might
it just isn't all right.
rachel stands alone facing down a coward
who hids behind his shining steel
his mind is empty as he demonstrates his power
the wounds he caused will never heal
the sunbeams do not reach the ground
blocked out by the overcast skies
through the air soars the sound
of a hero's dying cries
a tear gas funeral is all she had
as she lay there buried with the flag
that turned it's back
o say can you see?
the condoned atrocity
by the dawn's early light
o what a waste of your might
it just isn't all right.
and rachel stood alone against the horror
