Hey guys, I usually listen to rock bands music, but I also like to listen to women solo artists. I've always enjoyed music by Canadian womens (I'm proud Canadian). I think that I like every Canadian singers, from Avril to Chantal.

Here's my Top 10 (mostly Canadian):

1- Chantal Kreviazuk (CAN, all time favorite)
2- Holly McNarland (CAN, like her powerful voice, but I missed her show last week tho)
3- Avril Lavigne (CAN, young and cute, not bad music at all)
4- Jewel (very talented, her 1st album was one of the best!)
5- Michelle Branch (young and talented)
6- Melanie Doane (CAN, she's good)
7- Emm Gryner (CAN, discovered her yesterday and like most of her songs)
8- Tara Maclean (CAN, she's good)
9- Madonna (I like her music & respect for what she has done in her career)
10- Mandy Moore (I think she's the cutest among Britney, Christina and J.Simpson)

I don't think I can name a lot of Canadians, but here goes, in no particular order:

Bjork, I would say she's the best female non-classical composer of our time.

Aimee Mann, her songs are promising and a lot more than just guitar-driven pop songs.

Holly McNarland, I like her newer stuff a lot more. "Home is Where My Feet Are" is amazing, both the song and the album.

Cat Power, another singer/song writer. I won't go see her live though...

Beth Gibbons from Portishead, although I didn't like her side project with Rustin Man much. Her stuff from Portishead has proved that she's a great vocalist, with the effects that enhances the musical experience, probably my favourite female vocalist.

Elizabeth Frazer from Cocteau Twins, introduced to me by Massive Attack's "Teardrop". Frazer is not the average female vocalist that features powerful voice and holding-on-a-note-like-squeezing-a-lemon-and-not-letting-go. Her voice is perfect for the ethereal music of the Cocteau Twins.

Sinean O'Connor, heard her in Massive Attack's "100th Window", didn't like her at first, but her haunting vocals grew on me. Although I would have to say she's a pretty bad lyricist...

Alanis Morissette, I owned all her albums once, and now I'm only keeping Supposed and Unplugged. These two proved that Alanis is more than the angsty "You Oughta Know" that gave her her break. Supposed really revealed her ability to write, and Unplugged is where her vocals really shined, especially the closer Uninvited.

Alright, I'll fill up the last two spaces some other time.

I'm shocked. There was only one Tori Amos and no Ani Difranco's on there. How can you speak of female music and exclude Ani?

I was never a big fan of Ani Difranco. I'm just weird like that. One of my friends really liked her so she sent me a couple of songs and I just didn't like it that much.

I don't really like PJ Harvey, either.

I picked Tori I don't know Ani at all though

Gwen Stefanie .. though she's not Canadian but oh well

Someone at my school once got dumb and said that Gwen Stefani was Canadian.

Björk will always be my favourite female vocalist...

I am into Ani Difranco a good amount. Like, I wouldn't go to a concert of hers, but I like her, considering the only really good female vocalist in my opinion is the lady from Save Ferris. And another cool thing, Ani influenced Alkaline Trio to write a couple of songs on their first full length cd, and they happen to be two of the best songs I've ever heard, so I can't complain.

Maren Ord went to my school and she performed a few songs at our pep rally! I wasn't sure if she was heard outside of Alberta. The only time I saw her video was on CMT.
