Are any of you here into jazz? I really got interested in John Coltrane after downloading a few songs (yes, I did buy some albums, I didn't just download!). Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you could recommend to me some good jazz artists. If you know of a site where a few of their songs are available for d/l that would be great, but please post either way.
Thanks a bunch

Diana Krall
Ella Fitzgerald
Louis Armstrong
Norah Jones
Billie Holiday
Miles Davis
Maynard Ferguson
etc.
Don't know of sites to download, but several of those are rather old, so you should be able to find CD's cheap.

i love 'strange fruit' by billie holiday. it's definitely her most powerful song. she used to sing it at the ritzy hotels and places she played for snobby white people and make them all so uncomfortable. every note is just hair-raising.

John Coltrane is awesome. I have two of his albums and a Ken Burns compilation of his work.
I'm digging the Buddy Rich Big Band right now. Download Dancing Men, Moment's Notice (a Coltrane song

), and Groovin Hard. They're one freaky awesome big band.
Charles Mingus is awesome too
