Donkey Punch is a good Ann Arbor Punk/Ska band that plays at the Blind Pig every once in a while.

I haven't seen any flyers for concerts in a long time.

They're really good though, you can find their music on Kazaa.

Bedford Drive is also a big band in the downriver area. You can also find some of there stuff online, although I think it's rough cuts from their album.

Go here to hear some stuff: http://www.bedforddrive.com

Well, there's the obvious great Detroit area band, The Suicide Machines. I still consider them local, seeing that they play oh so many shows in the Detroit area.

I have a few bands one would consider "punk" that are extremely good.
Before I Go
One Hump Chump
Forever Ending (My friend from high school plays lead guitar in the band)

Then there's this band The Sights. Maybe some people here have heard of them, but they have this huge buzz about them. Like, they're receiving the same critical acclaim that At The Drive In and The White Stripes got, but they haven't gone huge yet. Funny story, my best friend's brother used to be in the band, but left it, thinking the band would go nowhere. Then another one of my friends was in the band but got kicked out because he's a heroin junkie now, which is incredibly horrible. Anyways, look into The Sights.

how could i forget? some of my friends have their own little band (cover only so far) called HTDP (Humphrey Ticklebottom featuring Dr. Pilkington)

they're pretty good and they've got a concert coming up in the spring. i dont know how many times kyle (the lead singer) has asked me to be their groupie and pose in a series of pictures with him wearing different outfits.

ok so this isnt detroit based, its actually chicago based but the band On The Line came to play at our school because the drummer/singer derek fawcett used to go to andover. his brother graduated a couple years ago as a known sex offender. anyways they're pretty good, an all acoustic band with acoustic guitar, rock violin, some teensy guitar thing, harmonica and a bongo-y drum

if you want to check them out, go to http://www.onthelineband.com
