Have you ever listened to song and realized that it made you remember a certain time or a place?

For example, I am listening to a cover of "Across the Universe" by Sean Lennon and Rufus Wainwright. It reminds me of packing up everything and getting ready to leave my dorm room and head home for the summer. It even reminds me of the spell of the paint and plaster that we used to fix up my room (didn't want to get fined). :freak:

If you have a song or multiple songs that do this to you, post them, and explain what they remind you of. :)

Everytime I hear Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" I am taken back to South Carolina when I went to visit my girlfriend at the time there and that was the first song that came on the radio; I remember it as if it were yesterday and ... it has to be 4 years ago at least

oh goodness, just about every song reminds me of something...

"Off the Hook" by Barenaked Ladies reminds me of my "8th grade soul-mate" (i guess you could call him b/c he made such a difference in my life) because I got Napster and beforehand had really bad taste in music, so this was the first song he told me to download. He said that the first time you listen to it, it's just okay, but then it grows on you... and he was right.
"Thief" also reminds me of ^

"What's Your Flava" by Craig David, haha.. reminds me of driving around with my friends (yes, they listen to rap/hip hop/pop :freak: ) and just for fun we'll all be like moving and dancing in the car at every light and see the people in the next cars give us the strangest looks.

"Hello Time Bomb" by Matthew Good Band reminds me of my trip to Banff, Canada last summer because i was obsessed with Canadian music and how canadian radio stations (and even restaurants and stores) play better music than here. And i duno, it just reminds me of Canada.

"Do You Like It" DEFINITELY reminds me of the Tower Records concert last summmer!! because it was the first song they played and I guess the one that stuck in my memory the most..

"Do You Like It" reminds me of last summer and going to the 89X B-day Bash, my first OLP experience, and when they played it freaking out because it was the only song off of Gravity besides SoT that I had heard up until that point.

"Days of the Phoenix" by AFI reminds me of just being really really happy, which may or may not make sense, lol.

"Build Me Up Buttercup" by the Foundations is strongly linked to a memory from this summer. I can feel myself sitting on the hot blacktop runway with my friends, sun shining down, the van blasting that song, and my instructor lip synching and dancing along to it... then he brought us timbits to compensate for our extreme embarassment

oh... and Needle In The Hay by Elliott Smith reminds me of a really psychologically low point in my room, just lying on my bed in the dark and crying... and about a friend that i don't think i have anymore

The Cedar Room and The Man Who Told Everything by Doves reminds me of one my awesome frieds, and makes me regret some stuff around them.
Melancholy, but they're awesome fucking songs.

I have SO many songs that remind me of last year. But this year, I have hardly any. :( I think that's because nobody really plays a lot of music in this hall. Last year, people would blast their music all the time. :(

hmm i just thought of a really strange one.

every time i hear the kylie manogue (sp??) song 'can't get you out of my head' i think of running through times square in the rain after the glassjaw show at snocore last year. it was so weird, both my friend and i came out of the gj song with that song stuck in our heads. and as horrible as it was it fit the moment cause we were both so exhilarated.

I have so many songs that do this to me. And I thought I was the only one. Whenever I listen to the Jailbreak record by Thin Lizzy I'll think of and picture in my mind traveling on the bus to Washington, D.C., because that's when I listened to it the most. Or there was one Fiona Apple song that reminded me of "Black & White"...
