Bright Eyes

I was wondering if anyone likes this band. I just started listening to them, and they're pretty awesome. Conor's (the lead singer) voice is really different, which naturally attracted me to this band.

"A spindle, a darkness, a fever and a neckless" is so beautiful and melancholic, it makes me want to cry. You gotta hear this song.

and if you like "Bright Eyes," you'll like "Desaparecidos," because Conor's the lead singer in that band too.

you guys really should check out some of this music. I think it's really, really good.

(taken from "Saturday as Usual")
and me I'm in my bedroom drawing in my notebook
because my hand thinks I'm an artist
but my heart knows I'm a poet
It's just words they mean so little to me
i can't seem to deal with total trust
there is something very wrong with me

daddy's in the backyard
his hands are getting dirty
and mom is in the kitchen and her cake says that I'm thirteen
another year

my brother went to college to become a doctor
and if he studies hard enough
he'll end up just like father
who hates his life

and me i'm in the bathroom
crying out my eyelids because it's hard to Be a man
when you are scared like a little kid
the world has become a little too mean
and i can't see the point of patient love
when everyone just wants to get fucked

Brillilant. simply brilliant.

Finally, somebody who's likes Bright Eyes or at least has heard of them..

My favorite songs so far are "A song to pass the time," and "The Calendar hung"

A Song to Pass the Time, yeah, I like that one too. Bright Eyes reminds me of Dashboard Confessional quite a bit, but I think Conor's voice is a bit more emotional. For example, on A Perfect Sonnet he sounds like he's almost on the verge of tears.

Ok...somebody. Please download one of Bright Eyes' songs. Please. You won't regret it. Just download something. Please. (did I say please enough)

Yeah, I have, and all I have to say is that this is good good stuff. A lot more emotional than Dashboard in my opinion, wow I want to see them live on the 14th ...

I like "The Calendar Hung Itself" , "Padriac My Prince" (it scared my sister when she first heard it, lo), and "The Center Of The World"

Sunrise, Sunset is my favorite, and I like Perfect Sonnet too, but DAMN. That's lock-self-in-closet-and-cry-all-day music.

Sunrise, Sunset

The Calendar Hung Itself is still my favorite though.

I also bought Lifted the other day, so far it's pretty good, although I haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet.

Bethany forced me to become a Bright Eyes fanatic. I already bought "Fevers and Mirrors" and it is spectacular! "Sunrise Sunset" is perhaps one of the greatest songs written ever. I am going to order the Christmas cd and "Lifted..." soon. Me and Kimmy are also thinking about going to the concert w/o tix since its sold out and trying to find some.

But it's so brilliant.

I know I'm going to get hell for this, but Conor is a much better lyricist than Raine.

I downloaded Something Vague a while back and liked it, but I got the feeling that any more of it would break my tenuous will to live

I adore this song.

i dreamt of a fever,
one that would cure me of this cold, winter set heart.
with heat to melt these frozen tears and burned with reasons
as to carry on.
into these twisted months i plunge without a light to follow
but i swear that i would follow anything
if it would just get me out of here.
and so you get six months to adapt
and then you get two more to leave town.
in the event that we do adapt we still might not want you around.
and i fell for the promise of a life with a purpose
but i know that that is impossible now.
and so i drink to stay warm
and to kill selected memories
because i just can’t think anymore about that or about her tonight
i give myself three days to feel better
or i swear i am driving off a fucking cliff
because if i can’t make myself feel better
then how can i expect anyone else to give a shit
and i scream for the sunlight or a car to take me anywhere
just get me past this dead and eternal snow
because i swear that i am dying, slowly but its happening
so if there is a perfect spring that’s waiting somewhere
just take me there and lie to me and say it’s going to be alright
its going to be alright, yeah you worry too much kid,
its going to be alright.

I downloaded some of their stuff lately. They're good. But nobody beats Dakona.
