OK these guys are awesome, if you havint checked out their album Is This it? then check it out, its probably some of the most unique music i've heard in a while, As well I think you should check out the vids for Last Nite and Hard To Explain which are pretty cool... their next video is sposed to be them playing on Family Feud, which is cool in my books (dunno if Louie Anderson will be on though... hmmm)
Anyone else got anything to saw about these guys? i think they dont get the props they deserve, and are probably one of best bands to emerge over the past couple years.

The Strokes do have an awesome album. It's like the perfect debut album for a band. These guys are like Rolling Stone's favorite band... and I'm talking about the entire magazine, too, not just like one writer. But, on the net, people are always like "these guys are good, but The Hives blow them away."

Which I can't really understand. The bands don't sound very much like each other. The Hives are more early punk guitar slam; The Strokes are like late 70's-early 80's hybrid rock, more on melody than on attitude. Not to mention, the two bands sing about entirely different things.

Oh well. I like 'em both. The Strokes kick ass live, so do The Hives.

The stokes are awesome, they are one of my favourite bands! They are definalty different from a lot of the stuff out there right now and have gotten a lot of praise for thier album which I think is amazing.

They are annoying. I quite like Hard To Explain though.

We trashed Kelly Osborne for doing the same thing the guy from the Strokes does. Has anyone heard him sing without his voice being distortred? No, so until he can sing without it, I can't respect him...

Those guys are annoying indeed. I've only heard of "Last Night" and I don't understand what's the craze about them? They revived 70s' rock music? Is that anything to be praised? If they are really that good why don't they create a new sound and new genre instead of using something that's already been done?

Have you ever seen the Last Night Video? Thats a live video and they are actually performing the song then... I've seen a couple things of them live, they sound great.

I've seen The Strokes live twice, and he can sing amazingly on his own.

They kick ass

Well, if they can do it live, then it's ok. I just don't like them. If I want 60's and 70's sounding music, I will just bust out The Who and the Doors and shit.

ok its almost impossible to find a vocalist for a band that doesnt use something to alter is voice, whether to make it sharper, clearer, add effect, etc...
Julias sounds pretty normal to me inmany of the songs, just as normal as Raine does in my opinion. Its just to make it sound better, they do it with instruments why not do it for vocals?

But it sounds like they just filter his voice completely to make it sound like it was produced in a garage or something.

Listen to "Fine Art of Falling Apart" by Matthew Good, then you'll know not every vocalist needs alteration on their recordings.

And I don't think they filtered Raine's voice in "Bring Back The Sun" either

The Strokes seemed like a fun band but I bought their cd and the entire thing is just like one long song. That's how much it all seems the same to me.

no bbts was done by recording all that happened in that room

it is live and the room wasnt perfect acoustically (obviously) and no filters btw

Bring Back the Sun was recording in the first take, but you can't really say that it's live because it may be mixed in the mixing process. If a song that comes out without any alternation, no mixing no dubbing no equalizing, that's live recording.
