So with my recent defending of Alice In Chains, and some of the retarded comments I received; I bring you this magnificent poll.

That was very difficult ... most of them I like so much, but I went with Nirvana .... Lithium and Rape Me put them over the top

Here's how I would rank them:

1. Pearl Jam
2. Alice In Chains
3. Stone Temple Pilots
4. Soundgarden/Nirvana
5. Mudhoney

nirvana is the only band out of all of those that people ever really seem to make any fuss about and they were the first to go. they grought it in to the mainstream. definately nirvana.

I woulda sworn STP was from like San Diego/Los Angeles. Their old stuff makes them sound like they're from Seattle though.

Yeah, STP got together in Dallas, actually, I think. Somewhere in Texas, at least. They aren't really a Seattle band, but they're part of the grunge wave, I guess.

You should add Soul Asylum, Grave Dancers Union was a great album.

Of course, I think they were from San Francisco, so.. maybe not, I have no clue, actually.

I voted for Pearl Jam, though.

Moose,

Would you please go into the "Deaths In Music" topic and set some of these people straight? I seem to be getting nowhere with this damn kids. Thanks...

And by the way; STP are from Seattle.

This is from here.

When Stone Temple Pilots first came onto the rock scene, many people accused Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder of dying his hair orange and fronting a new band. The similarities between Vedder's voice and STP frontman Scott Weiland's singing were uncanny. In a time when grunge music was bursting out of Seattle, a five-year-old band from San Diego was determined to make their own mark.

They're from San Diego.

I might've voted STP, but they aren't from Seattle. I went with Soundgarden because they had a nice run and quit while they were still good and all their albums are pretty solid.
