Arnold Lanni Discography

So after OLP's third non-Arnold Lanni produced album, I think I figured out that I may not be an OLP fan, but rather an Arnold Lanni fan. Though I still like the 3 post Lanni albums, they just aren't the same. They don't have that flavor that brings you in. So I'm trying to compile a list of Arnold Lanni produced albums and I came up with the following:

Rev.:
If the Color Hurts - 1995

Our Lady Peace:
Naveed - 1995
Clumsy - 1997
Healthy...is not a fish that you can catch - 1999
Spiritual Machines - 2001

King's X:
Ear Candy - 1996

Finger Eleven:
Quicksand - 1998
Tip - 1998
Greyest of Blue Skies - 2000

Simple Plan:
No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls - 2002

The Waking Eyes:
Video Sound - 2004

Thousand Foot Krutch:
Art of Breaking - 2005

Echo Jet:
Echo Jet - 2008

Did I miss anything?

I'm going to try and listen to some songs off of these. From what I've heard off of Thousand Foot Krutch's Art of Breaking I really like.

I agree, they need to bring back Lanni for at least one more album...and see what happens!

Now, normally I'd wait for Lando to jump in here...but I'll speak for him.

I know he loves the Tip CD from Finger Eleven - he likes all their albums, but seems to enjoy (and talk about) that one the most. Also - I don't think Quicksand is actually an album by Finger Eleven, just a song.

Lando's also recently become a big fan of The Waking Eyes.

So...giving those a listen would not be too shabby an idea at all. I had no idea Lanni produced some of those other bands, though.

Yeah, I later noticed the mistake I made with Quicksand. I ended up buying Art of Breaking by TFK and I really like it. You can actually hear Lanni's influence. It's funny, because I read the reviews and many of them said Thousand Foot Krutch's sound really changed from their previous 2 albums, but not in a bad way. Many were surprised in the drastic change in sound. I have a feeling Lanni likes to really dictate the sound of a band's record.

I have a theory that OLP's "Do You Like It" is really about Arnold Lanni.

All that I've heard Raine say about Do You Like It is that he woke up one morning pissed at the music industry and decided to write the song about how the bands are treated by labels or something like that...

Much older, but you forgot the bands he was previously in, of which he was the producer for some of those albums, as well...

Sheriff - Sheriff (1983)

- He was the primary songwriter, played keyboards and guitar. Biggest hit was the ballad "When I'm With You", which actually became a far bigger hit when it was re-released 5 years later, after the band had already broken up. (I recall there were quite a few "post hits" going on then, too). When they split up, he and bassist Wolf Hassel formed...

Frozen Ghost
- Frozen Ghost (1987)
- Nice Place To Visit (1988)
- Shake Your Spirit (1992)

- which was really Arnold's show, despite being initially a duo. Lanni wrote all the songs, sand lead vocals, and played all the guitar and keyboard parts on the first two albums. For the third, Phil X supplied guitar and some vocals. Their most well known songs were "Should I See" (off the debut) and "Round And Round" (off the second album).

Sad to admit I know all this because I am old(er), and this was how I first became aware of him. It was initially a bit of a shock to see he was the producer of Naveed when I first picked it up, but that was also part of the reason I decided to get it, too. I don't think there's much an OLP fan would necessarily dig here, but you never know.

And one other I didn't see on your list...

The Gufs - The Holiday From You (1999)
- he was producer, and co-wrote most of the songs
