safe, informed sex is where it's at. chastity and abstinence are fine and good only if the person making that choice has all the facts about how sex works, how sexuality isn't something to feel guilty about, and that the best way to learn about your body and your desires is through safe experimentation in situations that you control.

That's what I thought, too. I mean, chastity is fine if you want to go in that direction, but the way the lady made it sound was that if you have sex before marriage you will become suicidal and your relationship will be in ruined.

I'm not saying go and sleep with everything, but I certainly don't see the problem with pre-marital sex. Be safe, don't let it dominate your life, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm not even kidding you, the way she presented the information was similar to the Sex Ed in Family Guy. "If you have sex, your penis will fall off and land in another dimension and be eaten entirely by dogs."

this is an issue that really gets to me. sex education is so important for so many reasons - and it is largely neglected or mis-presented by the school systems. I think it is the next step on the route to gender empowerment and understanding the importance of reproductive rights.

Shanae, out of curiousity, are you at a catholic/religious school, or is this being taught in a secular context?
