I know a lot of fans are kind of "wtf-ing" the new album cover but I really really dig it. I could stare at it for hours.

Yeah, the new Swan Lake album comes out then. I'm excited for the Canadian powerhouse combo of Carey Mercer (Frog Eyes), Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade) and Dan Bejar (Destroyer/New Pornographers) to drop that album. It will probably make my year worthwhile again.

Still a dumb album title, but I don't really care since it's actually coming out.

It's a good song, but I don't know how much attention it'll attract as a single. It's also not as good as any of the rock demos that were scrapped, which irritates me. But I'll just go back to saying it's a good song and leave it at that.

They try to be pretentious and it doesn't work for them. You can't act all high and mighty with your lyrics when you're singing about a woman making you sad.
Meh, Brand New. Meh.

OK, they scream pretention. They go from being an energetic, fun live band to coming out wearing cardigans, scarves, and, to be honest, Jesse Lacey has a fucking Jesus complex. I saw them once, and it was painful. He kept putting his arms out to his sides in Scott Stapp fashion after he finished every overly breathy line.
If you're looking for something overblown and chock full of pretention, I have a list of bands that do it better and with less whining.

Hm, I have seen them three times and didn't notice the Jesus thing. I think I would have. But I was sort of distracted last time...
I like the cover too.

Fine, don't believe me. They're still, oh, how do you say, talented. There we go.
That show almost makes me regret not throwing a shoe at Jesse Lacey's face. But, when I feel bad, I just remember that I did throw one at the lead singer of MXPX and I feel all warm inside. Such awful music that day. And, of course, I got stuck there because some trick that liked Brand New had me buy her tickets and blew me off that day.

Ouch that's harsh.
And he is pretty pretentious. But that's sort of their thing. Or at least I've always thought it has been.
I caved and preordered the album though. haha. It better be good!
(From what I've heard for anyone who had those demos that came out a while ago, only #8 and 6 made the album. 8 being Sowing Season
