I have been waiting for this movie since Nicolas Cage was cast as Superman and Kevin Smith was brought in to retool the script, i cannot freaking wait! I saw the fourth trailer for it today which was played before X-Men 3 and it has got me so hyped up for the movie. The Superman overture is back, Bryan Singer is directing and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane

I'm not really sure if I'm drooling at the idea of Lois or Kate Bosworth. Anyone else feel the same wa...about the movie I mean.

so, anyone seen this movie yet? i just saw it tonight, and it was quite awesome indeed. the plot was fresh, yet it had quite a few references to the old movies, especially the first one. i liked that they tried to keep the characters' personalities unchanged.
this movie really makes you understand how beloved superman was to the characters in the movie. also, this movie endeared the main character to me like no other superhero movie has been able to do so far. you can't help but fall in love and admiration for superman, with all his nobility and goodness. when lex's cronies beat him up and left him to die, i felt personally violated. and the sobs and sniffs coming from the girl sitting behind me were proof that i wasn't the only one who felt that way.
it's also a movie that you don't need to see the other superman movies to enjoy. i grew up with the superman movies, and was quite fond of them. just hearing the superman theme makes my heart do a jig. so this movie is rather special to me. but even if you've never seen a single scene of the old movies, it's still a movie you'll definitely enjoy, even if you don't feel as attached to it as i do.

I thought it sucked. So did the 2 other people I went with. Maybe my expectations were too high for it or something. It really wasnt anything special, and I got bored easily. Thats just my two cents, though Ive never been a huge Superman fan either.

I agree. I like the Spiderman movies better. Superman Returns was kinda average.

I'm thinking it was more of a nod to George Reeves' death

George?

yes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Reeves
he killed himself just before starting the seventh season of Superman. It's rumoured that he was depressed due to being typecast as Superman and unable to do any other acting work.
The newspapers the next morning all announced the death of Superman.
I'm assuming this is what Superman's Dead is loosely based around anyways: the disillusionment of the death of a hero to millions of children, and all the symbolism it embodied.
and no, he's not related to Christopher Reeve (Reeves, not Reeve).

although, I should note, there is some question as to whether he actually killed himself or not...

I really liked it. It was way better than I thought it would be. But dude, that is so not Nick Cage in the role of Superman.

haha, yeah Nicholas Cage left the project years ago
