Commencing May 27th, 2006, at which point I will be departing for Ottawa, Ontario, I will be spending the summer backpacking around Ontario and Quebec with an emphasis on rural Quebec to improve my francais. Specific plans will be determined as time goes on. The last week of August, I will be going to New York with my family, after which time I will come to Montreal. (I have family in Montreal, so if I cannot find a place to live, I can always chill with the famfam.) I am planning on staying in Montreal until at least January, perhaps longer, and plan on attending Concordia University in September of 2007.
However, living in Montreal will be the first time I've ever lived on my own, the first time I've ever lived in a city, hell, the first time I've ever lived outside of the house I'm in right now! To get to the point, I'm scared shitless. Alex, being much more wise and experienced than I and a resident of the city, may be to whom I look for guidance. In closing, I have this to say to the dearest alexxx: Please, teach me how to rock Montreal like it's never been rocked before.
Sincerly,
Yannic
(If anyone else has any words of wisdom, please share as well)

The day I arrive I'm gonna give you a shout and you'll come swooping down to save me. Right?...right....
This whole trip is getting me all excited-like.

where in Ontario are you staying Yannic? I don't know if you're looking for campgrounds or hostels or what, but might I suggest KOA as a really good place to camp...

i'm going all by me lonesome. The way I'm going to be travelling is using a program called WOOF (willing workers on organic farms), so I'll be spending a large portion of my time staying at people's houses. I'll be on my own, but I won't really be living anywhere.

that is super cool. Yay for organic farming and moving away from the mono culture.
I think you will do fine having had that experience.

That's alright. I'll just promise to beat you up and steal your wallet
for her and I'm sure she'll pat me on the head and let me be. I'm fine with being a sidekick.
And as for NY, I have not a clue. My dad just asked me if I wanted to go and I said yep!
