Attack of the Bots

So it appears the bots are still registering and posting... Is there any way you guys can change the login process so that there's a validation e-mail sent out or something? There have been bots registering at another board I post at but none of them have been able to post because of the validation thing, so the inactive accounts just sit there.

...unless you already have that, in which case ignore this completely. I don't remember at all what the registration thing is like.

i was thinking of something like "type in the code seen in the image", so that the bots can't sign up at all

yeah, that would work too. the e-mail thing came to mind first because as far as i know it's a built in option with phpBB, but i have no idea how you'd go about setting up the image thing.

I've already made the e-mail confirmation a requirement... doesn't seem to be working.

Josh is going to work on upgrading the board so there will have to be some kind of question answered to be able to register.

If anyone notices a recurring spam post, please PM me with some of the contents.

I modified some of the CM's code last year with a hacked up way of preventing a particular pornbot post that kept appearing. I haven't seen much of the spam this time around but if there are repeat posts, or even if all the photos are hosted on the same website, I can set it up for the CM to completely block posts that are submitted with that particular content.

I've added a few new filters. I forgot the details of the code I added, actually it doesn't prevent the post but it does make the content less unpleasant.
