I'm hearing on tv this morning that they have announced they are either breaking up, or taking a break. At an award show they apparently said "you won't see us at one of these again for many, many years. People are fed up with us, and so are we"

Obviously now there's some question as to whether they will perform at the Junos or not.

They have to wait till they finish the big tour they are on now..

BTW I do not believe any of that. They are probably going to take a break. The Martin's are having another little one. Makes sense to me.

I was going to say the same thing. I think it's just a publicity stunt. They obviously never heard about the boy who cried wolf. Or was it the wolf who cried boy...when was the last time a wolf actually killed a human?

I don't know that it would affect me either way.

Thanks for your insights... I've never been a fan of coldplay so I didn't even know they've announced before that they would break up. I have a friend who was really distraught when she heard this announcement. I think I need to introduce her to some better music lol

They aren't breaking up.......people get so mental over things that a particular person (Chris Martin) said.
He was being honest.........their tour is scheduled to finish in July, and then we basically won't hear from them again for perhaps 2 years, maybe 3.
Raine could've said the same thing after Gravity's promotion was finished.

Coldplay have hit out at claims they're to split

Speaking from the stage at last night's Brit Awards singer Chris Martin hinted the band would move out of the public eye once the promotion for current album 'X&Y' was complete.

"People are fed up with us and so are we," he said. "You won't see us at one of these for many, many years. We mean it."

However, the band's label have hit back at reports that this means the band are splitting up. A spokesperson told NME.COM: "Coldplay are not quitting. They are on the road until July, when their 16-month 'X&Y' World Tour ends in Japan. They will then continue working on new material."

I used to work with Chris Martin. Not *that* Chris Martin, but *a* Chris Martin.

I post on a message board that Chris Martin frequents. Not really, but that's his screen name.
