I wanted to get a huge jump on planning this event out this year so we can get lots of folks to come along. Right now I'm aiming at the last week of July, or the first week of August for this event, at a yet to be determined location. I need some feedback on everyone's thoughts on the dates, and then some ideas on location. Location wise I've thought of Toronto; San Diego, California; Collingswood/Philadelphia/Ocean City; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Panama City Beach, Florida; and Vancouver. Thoughts, suggestions?

yay - glad you're starting to plan early! But for me if it's not in the Toronto area or within road-trip distance, I wouldn't be able to attend. All my money this year will be spent in Europe (which will hopefully include one or more European OLP shows), so I wouldn't be able to attend a meetup far from home.

I don't mind where, though somewhere new would be kind of exciting.

However, I do need LOTS of notice cos that's the summer and flights will get mega expensive (cos they're not cheap at the moment).

Would it be possible to tie the exact week down pretty soon so I can book it off work?

I will definately be in Vancouver at the end of July (around the 22nd I think) so thats where my vote goes.
Clearly the west coast has been neglected in the meetups.

If it happens in Toronto, which is probably more likely, I may be able to attend by delaying my flight home or something. It'll definately take a couple of different flights to get home, so if the timing is right I might be able to persuade a stop over in Toronto for a night or two.

I donno if the dates and that would work yet though.

I'll be so pissed if it's in Vancouver, because I've been chilling out on the west coast for three years with no meetups, and I'll finally be near ontario this summer.

Somewhere in the states near toronto (being new york state probably) would be cool too, because I'll be travelling around and it's always cooler to actually leave the country when you travel.

I think any of the places Matt's considering would be great. I've never been back east or up into Canada, so that'd be fun, and San Diego is awesome... there's zoos and sea world things and you can go up towards LA for theme parks and LEGOLAND!
