one thing i've learned from this job, is that we are so godamn wasteful its not even funny. i'll explain in detail after i eat breakfast.

He said Haliburton Jr., not Haliburton. I'm guessing it's a company that's like Haliburton but not as big.
I'm sure it's not on the same level as your company, but Kohl's is pretty freaking wasteful, too. I feel so horrible throwing tons and tons and tons of paper away every night we do ad set. And plastic and boxes and styrophome if we're processing. *sigh*

yeah, had a good breakfast, then i played video games.
but back to this company. haliburton is actually number 2 in terms of money generated by their oil sector. we are number 4. (there's 5 majors then the rest, were one of the majors)
But its oil, and i think all of them waste a lot of money. in the 2 months i've been there, there have been massive amounts of money spent on expenses, and yet, alot of the time, these expenses do not get reported. i don't know, maybe i'm just not in the know, but i just think we're hiding alot of expenses.
i guess i process expenses for this one company, and when i got there, there was litterally a year's worth of expenses to process. it's like they just kept buying shit, and never bothered to pay.
there's alot of things we do, that i guess i just can't elaborate on. and i don;t think its an isolated event.

Oh, you meant wasting money. Hah. Should've figured that out by the "Haliburton" thing.

Why do people continually think that this was a war based on oil?
Take a trip over and ask the general population what they really think. I think you might be surprised.

I don't think it was soley based on Oil. Oil is a contributing factor though, in my mind.
But, asking the general public only forms the general publics opinion, not that of the real reason, which lies within a government unaccessible to said general public.

Well, its official, I just have to leave this company.
I sat around with the lady up front and kind of vented about the problems with the company. Today I got written up twice, once for showing up late to work on a constant basis, and the other for like disobedience. Both were totally merited, and me and my boss had another sit down. (We’ve had three.) He’s frustrated with me, and if I were him I would be frustrated with me too. I’ve been acting like I own the place, not a single shred of fear crosses my mind when i show up late for work, or when I blatantly do not do what is asked of me.
Yesterday I made one mistake in processing bills. One, the first one in like 2 months, in like 6,000 invoices. My boss wasn't mad, but he was worried. The lady up front was worried, and it seemed like everyone that was apart of this little mistake was worried, except me. An e-mail was sent out to the lady up front, and I suppose it was a nasty one. She called me and wanted an explanation, and I told her, it was an honest mistake. And there I was, sitting there, letting this woman explain my mistake, when she had nothing to do with it. I would not allow it, and I outright demanded that she give me the number to whoever the hell it was that was asking this question. And with reluctance, she gave it to me, but warned that I was not to mouth off to the man, because he's an ass hole. And I returned to my office and my boss repeated the same message.
I just cannot figure it out. What’s the big deal? It’s an honest mistake and no one needs to explain my mistake for me. So I call, and leave a message, a stern one.
For the past few weeks, I’ve had a sneaking suspicion that my boss was hiding invoices from me. If I don't know about them, they will not get paid, and when they do not get paid, they simply do not exist. And I could not figure out why. He does not receive bonuses based on his expenses, there are no frills about keeping in the budget, there's just no reason that i saw that would make this man lie and cheat about his expenses. So I could not figure out why he would do such a thing. Until tonight.
This conversation with the woman up front opened my eyes, and just made me realize that my boss is not to blame for the mess. It’s the head men and women in charge. You see, the people I work with do everything in their power to try and avoid the head men and women in the company. Invoices are cut into 6 different invoices sometimes, just to avoid the peering eyes of the guy who had a shit attack over my mistake.

you see i work for maintenence dept. we work on 18 wheelers that dig into the ground and get the money from the ground. (natural gas) this natural gas wing of haliburton jr. is a brand new one. maybe about 2 years old tops. we have old trucks. i guess the heads up thought it was a good idea to buy old trucks to start a new wing of the company with. and i suppose that's fine, but with old used trucks comes alot of maintenence. and the higher ups only want our expenses to equal 10% of the revenue comming in.
and there is simply no way that is going to happen.

I don't understand Reno. You say that if you don't see them then they don't get paid. But surely then whoever sent the invoice still wants their money so they're gonna start bugging whoever for it?
