So.......my plan was to hit up my local Walmart tonight, 'round 7:00, and wait it out until the midnight launch aaaaaaaand.
Get there at 7:08..........a line of 40plus people ALREADY FREAKIN waiting. Sons a bitches. I figured five hours would've been decent enough.
Funny part......my walmart only had 18 consoles to sell: 14core, and 4premium systems
Soooooo........what time should I wake up and make the 30minute drive to my local KMart???? They open and will be sellin them at 7am?

If you really want to get it now, I'd make the 30 minute drive to your local Kmart.
I mean, 30 minutes is less time to wait than all the time you'll wait waiting for your walmart to restock, right?

Hope you get one!

Well, if K-Mart is the 2nd store to release it in your area, after Wal-Mart, my guess is you're going to have the other 22 people who were in line ahead of you and didn't get one to contend with. I'd go pretty early.
I still don't get what's so special about an x-box though.

Meh. In my opinion it's nothing more than a PC that's specialized for games. All xbox games could be released for PC without nearly as much trouble as releasing a PS2 or Gamecube game for PC. Thus I assume all worthwhile xbox games are released on PC too. So I would just play the PC version. That way I don't need to to buy an entire new system just to be able to play the new games.

When I got to work at 9 last night they were lined up from layaway around the corner past the craft department to electronics. Some of the people had been there since I left that morning. We had 25 base units and 23 premium units. We handed out reservation cards at 10PM and sent everyone who didn't get a card away so as to avoid problems. We sold every unit and only had one placed in layaway. It took about 1 hour to get everyone checked out. The crowd was great too. They sat around playing on their laptops and would hold each others place in line for bathroom and meal breaks. Some stores I was told had to have security to walk people to their cars because there were calls claiming people would get mugged in the parking lot if they had one of the consoles o_O. Our sale went smooth, and couldn't have been better.

Xbox 360, the newest geek toy, was released last night. It is in the nature of geeks to prove to one another that they are the geekiest of them all. The ultimate status symbol of geekhood is having the newest, most expensive, geekiest toys FIRST. Therefore, rather than actually battling for geek titles, (they are simply geeks after all) they just waited around doing nothing for hours in order to prove their geekiness.
This doing nothing activity will now continue for months and months to come for those who managed to get an Xbox. Except now they'll have flashing pictures in front of them and a controller in their hand.
Kapish?

^5 I don't want one either.
I may get a PS3 (for MGS4). And I'd like to try the revolution at some point (whether I'll buy one or not, I don't know). But there's just really nothing special about the 360. It really seems like the PS3 and XBox360 will be interchangable quality-wise (unless, given the gap between releases, PS3 is a more advanced system), and the MGS series has always kept me with a PS.

I'm going with a PS3 as well.
I've never had any desire to own anything X-Box.

So they have a hard drive, woo... I've never filled a card. lol When I stop playing a game, I trade it in and erase it from my card.
The only other real advantage to the old XBox over PS was it's Live format. But I don't even use my console online.

Plus, I imagine the PS3 will improve on it's online performance.
