After reading Megan's
story, I downloaded one of Jimmy's solo acoustic shows and I really liked it. This dude has some beautiful vocals!
Since I'm cheap, I'm picking their albums up on eBay. I got Distorted Lullabies coming, should be delivered this week.
A couple of my favourites tracks right now are I Heard You Singing, I'm a Monster, Sometimes and Jimmy's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is neat as well.
I heard they're coming out with another album soon-ish, that'd be coool.

ahh i love you. anyways.
i totally agree with you on i heard you singing and i'm a monster, those two are definitely in my top 5 songs by them/him.
i don't know if it's the one you downloaded, but i suggest the 12th and Porter Nashville show from a couple of weeks ago on killtheband.com it's like, a perfect quality recording.
anyway, i really don't want to get annoying about being like "listen to this band omfh!!!!" but seriously. they're THAT good.

ahhhhh... it's good to see that Ours is trickling into the limelight here on the boards!
I picked up their first major release, Distorted Lullabies, a few years ago after only hearing one song, "Sometimes," and to this day it remains one of the best music purchases I have ever made. I would start listing some of my favourites off of this album, but the whole damn thing is a masterpiece!
The lead singer of the band, Jimmy Gnecco, is heavy on the falsettoes, but has great overall range and packs a wicked bone-tingling scream!
Their sophomore album, Precious, also has some gems on it as well, but I personally thought it wasn't as complete and absorbing as Distorted Lullabies was.
oh, and if you're interested in even more Ours, they have some early demos recorded on an album called "Sour"... good stuff! I can hook up whoever wants to have a listen. But for those who just want a little taste of Ours, try a few of these songs to get you going:
Sometimes
Dizzy
Medication
I'm a Monster
Fallen Souls
Places
Bleed
Chapter 2 (Money)[/i]

Wow, good suggestion, that recording is amazing
"God only wants you" is even sader sounding then most Ours

i listened to the whole concert twice tonite while writing my essay, holy shit so great. If you're in a sad mood it's so good, but so bad for you. It's so good if you're feeling dark, i'd describe it as delicious.

man, I really hope "Saint Down The Hall" will make the cut for the next Ours album...
hey Sean (I AM ME)---- if you enjoy Ours/Matthew Good/I Mother Earth/OLP, you really need to listen to the music of "Jump Little Children" if you haven't already. The musicianship and vocals are just outstanding and they encorporate everything from electric guitars to cellos (and pull it off quite seamlessly!). I've been thinking since we like alot of the same stuff, you would most likely dig these guys as well.
Sadly, although they have a very solid fanbase, their songs are not very well known to the general population, and so they hardly ever get any play time on the radio. So if you are interested, I could send you (or anyone, for that matter) some songs to get you started if you have a gmail account or something... just let me know.

Wow. I detect a trace of Jeff Buckley in that dudes voice.

Yeah he's hailed as Jeff Buckley's successor. He was actually Jeff's guitar tech i believe. I think "I heard you singing is actually in reference to Jeff.

Wow. The music is totally awesome. I'm listening to Sometimes right now and just can't believe how much he sounds like Jeff. I love this song so very much.
