RIP David Reilly

I don't know how many of you were familiar with his music, but David Reilly passed away this past Sunday. He was best known as the singer/guitarist from the band God Lives Underwater (Songs you might know - Don't Know How To Be, From Your Mouth, Empty, No More Love) and more recently he released a solo EP. He was working on a full length album for release next year and he was going to come to Philly on November 19th...I was so up for that show. He was born in 1971, so I guess that makes him 34 or so. So young. He went through a lot of problems in his short life. Several years ago, his fiance passed away (not sure of the details behind that) and he had a lot of problems with drugs. In the past year or so, he's been doing really well with getting off the drugs and everything so I was really surprised to hear of his death. Apparently he had a tooth infection and his passing had something to do with complications with that. Strange how you can have a life-threatening problem with drugs and then die from something completely unrelated less than a year after getting clean. Just makes you thankful for what you have I guess. If you knew his music at all, or just want to send your condolences to his family, check out the message board at http://www.enjoyglu.com . There's a thread there about his passing and some family members who never posted before have come in...a few posted, a lot more just read the comments about how much of an influence David had on so many of his fans.

I know who they are. I saw them a few years back . That is sad to die like that.

The orignal guitarist of Big Audio Dynamite died also a few days ago.

This reminds me of the Depeche Mode song Blasphemous Rumours
the girl trys to kill herself survives then gets hit by a car and dies

you just never know when your time will come

That's so sad. :( I remember the "From Your Mouth" video... it was cool... so was the song.

In other news... woah, you can die of a tooth infection? 8O

Yeah, there were some kind of complications. I don't know all the details, though. I know he was in the hospital, but I don't know for how long. Apparently, he was suffering from the infection for 6 months or so. He posted a blog about it when (I am assuming) it started causing him problems and I thought it was just a bad toothache. I certainly wasn't expecting this especially since he never brought it up again since on the blog or message board. I just found out that he didn't have health insurance, so he couldn't get it looked it prior to it becoming really bad. That really sickens me to know that if he had insurance he might still be alive today. I also know that his case certainly isn't the only one like that. Too many people die from things that can be cured...we're the richest nation in the world and we can't even afford health care for our own people...but that's a whole other thread!

believe it or not most musicans don't have insurance. it is weird cause you would think that is afull time job.. I think that is why you always have these benefits concerts when a musicann gets really sick..

You are right. The USA is bad with insurance.. MY friend's husband worked full time and had no insurance cause his job didn't offer it. I thank God I have insurance through my job..

that is horrible, but it can happen if the infection spreads through out the body or gets in the blood stream/
