OK computer geeks!

I'm looking for a laptop for the school year. I figure a lot of you would have some good ideas, so I thought I'd ask for some opinions... Here are some of the specs I'd like:

1024 Ram DDR
Minimum 1.7GHz
At least 60GB hard drive
light weight
good battery life

I need it more for current projects and notetaking. A gaming computer is not what is needed. Anyways, if anyone has suggestions, please send them my way! I'd really appreciate it :) Thanks guys!

i got a $1700 toshiba for school last year. it's been great so far, but i dont remember much about it and i cant even figure out how to open my specifications.

it was one of the higher end models, so it's at least close to what your looking for
the only real drawback is the battery life. it's supposed to be 8 hours but it's probably closer to three or four

Awesome, thanks for the info. I've been looking at some Toshiba's as well as IBM's and HP's. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best name to buy?

I don't know much about notebooks but I don't think you'll have any problems with any company, it's really all the same when it comes down to the hardware.

I'm having a hard time trying to find a notebook for under $2200 with a gig of ram but this one is full of *covers eyes and ears* s-e-x. All the specs on are that page.

tigerdirect.ca is really good if you want to buy online, you can check out the other notebooks they have! :O

good luck!! notebooks are sexy, I want one in the future!

BAD CHOICE!

The sweetest fucking notebook computer ever is the one that Penny from Inspector Gadget had. Man I wish I had one of those.

HP has a nice turnaround time on repairs too, if something should go wrong. We shipped a notebook off for warranty repair for a customer, and it was back in under 7 business days. I like the dual layer drive too, even though blanks for them are expensive as shit.

Definitely. That is actually one of the main reasons I ended up buying it. Future Shop said HP has one of the best customer services available today, which I am definitely going to need with being in school. It has been an awesome buy so far.
