Sand showed me that a while ago on the hub.

I'd buy one if I wasn't poor. Along with bracelets for a million other charities.

It seems like more people are donating to these charities now to get those stupid little bracelets than because they actually care about what they're supporting.
Not pointing any fingers, just making an observation in general.

that is so true/sad. i've seen people wear those bracelets and then i looked closer and the things written on them were just funny words and/or sayings, so they weren't even supporting a charity, just trying to look trendy.

my question is how much does it cost to make the bracelet? It says 100% of profits will be donated but if the thing costs $1.95 to be made, then what's the point? I might has well just donate my toonie to a charity and skip out on someone making money off the manufacturing of bracelets.

well i'm sure that the wholesalers from the rubber company see that it's for a charity so they'll probably give a discount to the charity and then write it off on their taxes. or they'll just supply for free and write it off.
you gotta use capitalism to your advantage sometimes.

ya, I'd imagine there's a good write off and they'd give a discount, but really why give 2 bucks for a bracelet and then have only a small portion of it go to the charity? Not too mention they have to ship these bracelets all over the USA... I wouldn't doubt it the profits are minimal at best.

okay, more then a 'small portion' of it is going to charity .. 100% of the profits are going to the humane society with a minimum donation of $25,000 so i'd say that's pretty good.
and who really cares why these people are donating to charities .. if they're just doing it to be trendy and get a bracelet, so be it .. at least the money is going towards a good cause. there's worse things kids could be buying to be trendy ...

I just sent an email to these folks just to find out some answers out of curiosity. I've always been skeptical of charities that give you something in return for your donation.
here's my email... they say they'll write back with 48 hours...
Hi,
I have two questions concerning your "How Could Anyone" bracelet. I noticed that it said that all profits will be going to the Humane Society with a minimum donation of $25,000. It's fantastic that you are donating to a worthy cause, but I was wondering how much profit is actually made off of each bracelet sold? Especially considering you have a buy one get one half price deal going on as well, and taking into consideration that it must cost something to purchase these bracelets and get them engraved. I would also like to know what happens if the minimum goal of $25,000 isn't met?
I think these are two pretty straight forward questions, and I'm hoping these can be answered in a straight forward manner.
Thanks for your time

no, that is not what i said.
companies are making these bracelets now for profit with stupid sayings / words on them that kids buy just to wear a rubber yellow bracelet, no money goes to charity, the money goes to the company making a profit off of this trend.
