I can't help but wonder why these new Radiohead things aren't going into the Radiohead Appreciation Thread.

I think its a joke that they won and U2 came in second. The closest Beatles album was 7th. Thats just silly.

Not really. I like Radiohead more than U2 or the Beatles. I think their music is better, and from what I've seen I think they're more talented. And apparently so do a lot of other people.

What's silly is Madonna and Michael Jackson being in the top ten, and Jeff Buckley being only 61st.

No other band I repeat no other band can even touch Radiohead. If you put in "Ok Computer" listen to it beginning to end and then put in "The Bends" and listen to it beginning to end" you'll find two completely different yet equally amazing albums. Then throw in "Kid A" and you wont know what just hit you.

But I can assure you anyone that actually owns a copy of "Ok Computer" will never call Radiohead over-rated.

I think radiohead is great, and having just recently bought OK computer in the last few months I've realized they are indeed a good band. I would not say that no one touches them though. To me The Beatles rank higher than them simply because Lennon and Macca are the two greatest song writers of all time. Not too mention they were doing things then that bands today would never even think of. They weren't afraid to push the envelope, and I think that a couple of their albums rank equal or higher than OK computer does.

I'm SO freaking tired of people saying things like "if you don't like ____ band, you're naive" or "you don't know anything about music" or whatever. Not everyone likes the same music. I for one find (newer) Radiohead boring. And, no, that doesn't mean I'm naive (or ignorant, which you implied by the OK Computer comment... I've heard OK Computer all the way through several times). I do own The Bends, and I enjoy it (as well as Creep and some of the singles from OK Computer). But anything past that (and possibly before it cos I've never heard all of Pablo Honey), and they've lost me.

And, no, I'm not saying Radiohead's bad. But in my opinion, they ARE over-rated. To others, they might not be. That doesn't make either of us wrong.
