Oy.. physics test today was ugly. Someone see if they can wrap their head around this:

if Amy throws a ball straight up out of a window with an initial velocity of 4.5m/s [wasn't the actual test speed, but I forget the actual one], and it takes 2.02s for it to hit the ground, how high is the window?

:freak:

isn't there some equation you could plug those into?

I got 88% on my physics test yesterday.

It was optics though. We don't get into motion/force for a couple more units.

yeah.. a=-9.8m/s ergo we've got V1, a, and t, so I think I'm supposed to find out how high it goes (Dx) long it takes to it goes up (Ty), stop, and come back down. Calculate the distance (Dz) it takes to go down with 2.02-Ty, then find the height of the window with Dz-Dx. All with lovely kinematic equations mixed with gravity.

But I seem to go through physics problems thinking I'm doing it fine, only to get the wrong answer for no apparent reason

if I were actually in the situation detailed in the question, I'd wrap some tape measure around 'Amy' and push her out the freaking window

be very afraid

Hah. You should live in Canada.

80-100 = A (4)
70-79 = B (3)
60-69 = C (2)
50-59 = D (1)
<50 = F (R)

In parentheses is the Canadian "rating". (it's the same as A-F. there's no point to it...)
