Was really pleased with the vocals on A Mess. Not the biggest fan of his wife. I'd prefer he double up his vocals, singing his backup falsetto rather then her accompanying, but, i like it none the less.
We are taught is alright instrumentally, but the dull deep burn burn vox do nothing form.
Dead Flowers: Wow... that blew me away. Almost fiona applesque.

Dead Flowers grabbed me right away. The chorus sort of reminds me of something you would hear on Diorama by Silverchair. Very cinematic sound... love it.

I love all the three songs...A mess is really relaxing...of course Dead Flowers is the best...someone can post the lyrics?
Thanks in advance!

A Mess was actually my favorite on Pachamama II. Dead Flowers is good too, but wasn't really feeling We Are Taught.
Can't wait for III!

Sounds like exciting stuff, but I still haven't been able to get it...
Tried downloading from the site, didn't work. Tried using a different email address, still didn't work. If anyways can help me sort this out, I would really appreciate it. Or I could just keep trying...

Check your email.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Re: WE ALL GET LIGHTER - Raine Maida's Sophomore solo Albu
I've been able to sort out the problem and have listened now. Seems that the website is working normally now too, I think they updated it last night.
Regarding the songs, I'm unsure how to feel about them yet, I haven't a chance to get an in depth analysis, but I'd like to offer my initial feelings.
1. A Mess - Firstly, beautiful lyrics and vocals. Very introspective love song. I'm not really feeling the guitar so much, I felt this song could have really been elevated with some strings, and I agree with the previous statement, Raine should use his own voice for harmonies, not Chantal. Nice little song, but the weakest of the Pachamama releases so far, and not one of his strongest ballads, in my opinion.
2. We Are Taught - Something about this song instantly grabs me. It's kinda hard to explain. Raine has often grasped at defining something about the basic human condition in his lyrics. I'm thinking of songs like Life, Innocent. This is something that I have always tried to do in my personal life as well. I feel like he's closer than ever with this song. This isn't a song I hear with my ears, I feel it in my soul. The music is average, catchy...but that's not what it's about to me. I'm sure everyone will have different opinions on this song, but that's how I feel.
3. Dead Flowers - On first listen, I felt this was the strongest of the three. Subsequent listens though, and I'm not feeling it so much. Cool vibe with the music, interesting lyrics...but somehow the total construction and flow of the song between verse-chorus seems odd to my ears. I think this song more than the others will require some time to grow in my mind before I can appreciate it. People on here seem to like it so much, maybe I need to try to hear what they are hearing.
That's it, thanks for letting me get my feelings out. I wish there was more discussion about Pachamama, are people not as excited for this as they were for Curve?

I'm super excited! I can't wait for Jackson Triggs... I think we've just all been kind of distracted because of all the date push backs and Curve. I've been at so many OLP shows recently that I haven't had time to fully absorb the part II yet!
