COME TOGETHER

Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say "i know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

He bag production he got walrus gumboot
He got ono sideboard he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say "one and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

rheostatics - midwinter night's dream
---------------------------------------------

Sweet, sweet silence... in the winter's time
Sidewalks shrinking... and you?

TV's twinkling...
the sky cushioned my ditch with a couch of snow
so deep, so cold, and so blue... and you?

sweet, sweet, silence
I'm already gone

pleased to meet you... speckle my throat like a junkie prick
so cold, so blue, and slender

It hiss like snow do
As though fishes could know any better
underneath the ice
in suspension

it feels like your mouth
a drip of spit on the end of your tongue
falls into the ice
cracks like thunder and a dream I had... of girders
an abandoned truck in an underground parking lot
(with the keys in the ignition)

if i be the crane, then you can be site inspector
who had a scotch at lunch and a problem with his wife

you didn't notice... the truck, the wires
the white silence of the coming blue fires
the sabotage of a giant thing that would affect the workers

it's all too much. a spirit can't sink any further
into dope dope dope dope... and submission

and I know it's a dream I have... yeah it's what I think I know
cause if all this pain and endless anger has somewhere to go
if i had the permit to... all hail Leo Copter!

and you would like my face
you would like my face

you take a walk. i'll be by your side of joy in love, i miss you
give me something to cry about... to cry about
you give me something to cry about

sweet, sweet silence
...i'm already gone

Sweet! Leonard Cohen! :D He went to my school ♥

"Alexandra Leaving"

Suddenly the night has grown colder.
The god of love preparing to depart.
Alexandra hoisted on his shoulder,
They slip between the sentries of the heart.

Upheld by the simplicities of pleasure,
They gain the light, they formlessly entwine;
And radiant beyond your widest measure
They fall among the voices and the wine.

It's not a trick, your senses all deceiving,
A fitful dream, the morning will exhaust...
Say goodbye to Alexandra leaving.
Then say goodbye to Alexandra lost.

Even though she sleeps upon your satin;
Even though she wakes you with a kiss.
Do not say the moment was imagined;
Do not stoop to strategies like this.

As someone long prepared for this to happen,
Go firmly to the window. Drink it in.
Exquisite music. Alexandra laughing.
Your firm commitments tangible again.

And you who had the honor of her evening,
And by the honor had your own restored...
Say goodbye to Alexandra leaving;
Alexandra leaving with her lord.

Even though she sleeps upon your satin;
Even though she wakes you with a kiss.
Do not say the moment was imagined;
Do not stoop to strategies like this.

As someone long prepared for the occasion;
In full command of every plan you wrecked...
Do not choose a coward's explanation
that hides behind the cause and the effect.

And you who were bewildered by a meaning;
Whose code was broken, crucifix uncrossed...
Say goodbye to Alexandra leaving.
Then say goodbye to Alexandra lost.

Say goodbye to Alexandra leaving.
Then say goodbye to Alexandra lost.

Best one I could find... most of mine were in Spanish.

Jessie
by Joshua Kadison

From a phone booth in Vegas
Jessie calls at five a.m.
To tell me how she's tired of all of them
She says, "Baby, I've been thinking about a trailer by the sea
We could go to Mexico; You, the cat and Me
We'll drink tequila and look for seashells
Now doesn't that sound sweet"
Oh Jessie you always do this every time I get back on my feet

Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me

She asked me how the cat's been
I say "Moses, he's just fine"
But he used to think about you, all the time
We finally took your pictures down off the wall
Jessie, how do you always seem to know just when to call
She says "Get your stuff together, bring Moses and drive real fast"
And I listened to her promise
"I swear to God this time it's gonna last"

Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me

I'll love you in the sunshine
Lay you down in the warm, white sand
And who knows maybe this time
Things will turn out just the way you planned

Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me.

(...for the eternal dreamer in all of us.)

If everyone's a casualty
Then take your time there ain't no trouble
If the weather's fine and we're feeling crazy
There's always drinks and dancing in the rubble
I'm spinning and you're spinning
The world's spinning and we're laughing
And i'm charming, the devil's charming
And we're ruined but we're still building
And i'm selling and you're counting
The world's stopping but we keep going
And we're ruthless and we're cunning
And i'm heir to it all

Probably one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life.

Ben Folds - The Luckiest

I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here

And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?

And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you

Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away

I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

meaning is sometimes hard to spot
it begins with the flickering of cigarettes
in the darkness of a dorm room
somewhere in the suffocated mid-west

and if this is real then i was mistaken

this is the sound of the hopeless kids
as they scream from the basements of the houses of their parents

and this is the sound of the hopeless ones
as they stare down at their books
and realize they have been lied to

but if this is real then i was mistaken

and realization finds you in a drunken airport
some planes depart and others never arrived

this is the dream i am dying in
i will wake to find tomorrow
be content without perfection

but if this is real then i was mistaken

and if the vision is gone then i was not aware

MG - Can't get Shot in the back

Mutes they like to protest
to disagree between the lines
where the mass majority hide

And on the news it’s like Mardi Gras
every night with their shirts off
to shine your ears and eyes

In a restaurant booth
I cut my tooth
on pictures of our sable justice
given the facts who can relax so easy on death?

Love ain’t something I remember
trust ain’t something I afford no one
lately I remember to forget
can’t get shot in the back if you don’t run

My fate it lies with someone
each stranger I’m a part of
and them of I

Across continents and oceans
transplanted the Great Divide
even though the Rockies they ain’t moved none

In an airport lounge
I try and drown
the pictures of our sable justice
given the facts who can relax so easy on death?

Love ain’t something I remember
trust ain’t something I afford no one
lately I remember to forget
can’t get shot in the back if you don’t run
