Woah... I was *just* about to revive this thread and say exactly the same thing.
... cept I watched.
It was AWEsome. He almost beat the one day record BEFORE Final Jeopardy... he had $52,000 with a few seconds left and buzzed in, but he got the question wrong.

The two women on today were pretty good, and the one got the first Daily Double, too... so it's even more amazing he almost beat it without Final Jeopardy.

Though, he did bet more on the one Daily Double than he normally does, cos he liked the topic. Alex said he was smiling when the Final Jeopardy question was announced as Shakespeare.
*thinks* I think that's everything that was cool that wasn't mentioned in that article.

The thing is, he would have beat the record before final jeopardy cause he was at 53,000 but then got the very last question wrong to drop him down to 51,600. I think that's why he was holding out and constantly just sticking with tying the record. He wanted to break it before final jeopardy came around, just to add to the excitement lol.

Since this was all taped in March the rumor is now, that he went on to win the tournament of champions and is now still winning in the next season.
Couse, we won't know if thats true or not until it is aired.

I don't think it's taped in March... I read somewhere that they tape 5 shows in a single day and air those 5 the next week. I could be wrong though...

Oh was he at $53,000? Shows how much attention I was paying.

everything that you've seen with ken jennings was taped in february, so i'm guessing the march theory is correct.

taken from eonline.com:
"Jeopardy! will air two more weeks of original episodes, which began taping in August, before going on hiatus again for a special tournament."
so i guess they taped these new episodes last month.

He's not doing as well as before.

Maybe they're getting him better competitors? Or maybe someone talked to him and told him he was gonna bankrupt the show.

maybe the whole thing was rigged.

Does it matter?
If they made him eat worms or something, it would probably beat out survivor in the ratings.

it just seems weird that jeopardy's been around for 25 years or whatever and nobody's been close to this. (yes, i'm aware of the five-day limit, but this guy is getting out of hand)

he's at 41 days or something. There is no possible way anyone could come as close as that.
Unless they kept getting daily doubles and went for like 3 billion.
