Waiting to Exist wrote:Are the albums available in America? I checked Borders and my local record store. The record store claimed there was no such band, and Borders came up with three of their albums and claimed they had all stopped being made.

you can get them through amazon.com or amazon.ca i believe. I don't know if they're still availible in record stores there though

that question can't really be answered without knowing you. Each album is very diffrent, esspecially when they changed singers after the 2nd. they're all good but in diffrent styles

what are some bands you like?

Man, I love the No Coma video. It's just so ... random!

For anyone who hasn't seen it (and doesn't mind a spoiler...):

It starts out with the statement "Based on a true story". Bascially two things going one in the video. There's the scenes with the band playing, and then the storyline scenes. The storyline involves a man. Fairly plain looking. Actually, he's got the exact same "style" as the guy in Billy Talent's "the river below" video. He walks out of his house, and everything's all slow motion and intense. He's kind of like your typical normal working guy who looks so calm yet angsty that he's about to snap. That's the feeling I got, at least. Anyways, between scenes of the band playing, this guy is walking down the path between his front door and the road. Slow-mo and intense the whole way. He's carrying a full garbageb bag. A neighbour waves at him, and he just looks away. The paper-boy tosses the newspaper his way, and it just barely misses his head. He closes his eyes, and opens them at the start of a heavy beat. He continues, determined more than ever to do whatever he's doing. He passes his little fence onto the sidewalk, and has a quick run-in with a chiuaua. The dog passes, and he continues on, crossing the sidewalk. He reaches the edge of the road, and drops the garbage bag next to a blue-box. He presses down on the top of the bag, and the contents shift slightly. He crosses the street and gets in his car. He looks at the garbage bag. He smirks slightly, accomplished.

The end.

I love it! You're expecting something major, like a dead body in the bag or something. "Based on a true story". The story of a man taking out the garbage on his way to work.

:GASP:

Yes! You need to hear some of this stuff. I think their last album (The Quicksilver Meat Dream) would fit closest to your musical tastes, I think.

I love the No Coma video. That's where I first heard the song. The song led me to buy the album.

You might want to try Scenery & The Fish first, even though it's their old singer it was probably their biggest commercial sucess, and easiest to get into.

Is it just me, or is the intro to Blacksox completely 70's porno music?

Either that or an homage to the Shaft theme. haha

I've still only got OGB and tQMD right now, though I've also been listening to the Edwin-era singles.

Loving every bit of BGO and tQMD.
