NO label would ever hold an album for like 6+ months after completion. I'll be working in the industry so I know how it works. However, I wouldn't expect the cd to be out in August. I would think single in middle/late July and CD release Mid September in Canada. If there were some extraordinary circumstances then they might hold it, but there are none that i'm aware of. The cd will come out regardless of a tour schedule. Touring is mainly what makes the band money, cd release is what makes the label money.
Like Matt said, it'll be released by Sony Canada in Canada first.
Also, if it was to be released in July, they wouldn't be "finishing it up", there would be an actual release date, and we'd be hearing a single sometime soon.
No, you're all wrong. Wallmart said it wil come out in June and wallmart tells no lies! Hence, I'm insisting on being childish and not listening to anyone's completely logical and most probably correct reasoning. So there!

I didn't say the cd would be released in July...read again.
.....from someone who has asked the band "haha! Its funny that you say that cause I asked them a few days ago and they still don't have an answer"
so all in all the band can't decide on a date since they have little 'un to look after.

Esotarious wrote:It's definitely a bad sign. Raine is definitely not impressed up to this point with his work. It's evident because we constantly keep hearing the phrase, "finishing up the cd with BoB Rock" or "Recording their cd with Bob Rock."
Now by holding off it's clear Raine isn't wanting to put out crap and wants to make sure they release good product. That is a good thing.
Alot of their songs they played on tour last time were pretty weak with the exception of Not Afraid. I honestly miss Mike. The songs he is working on are very good and innovative to a point. You can tell it's Mike the second you listen to a few Riff's. I like that.
At any rate I really want another OLP cd, and I really don't want to wait till January!!
I don't know fella.
My bets are if Raine is holding it off, he's making it worse in my mind. Maybe 'poppier'. If it were Jeremy staying with Bob I could wait another year because i would know it would be good. But Raine...? For some reason i think that Raine is a big part of OLP's new poppy sound. I think he wanted SM to be like gravity, but mike was holding him back. After many arguments, mike knew he could no longer hold raine back and decided to leave before his band turned from gold to shit.
So overall, I'm not very happy that RAINE is staying with BOB ROCK for the new cd. It's like a combination of two bad ideas. and as we all learned back in elementary school... two wrongs don't make a right.
THERE'S TOO MANY OF US THAT DON'T WANT TO FIGHT IT
Awww.. great to see so many olp fans have so much faith in the band
probably been said before but, m 'guessing' the main reason for the delay is more to do with duncans and raines spawns than holding off for the perfect release date or whatever.

isnt raine credited to 7 tracks on spiritual machines on his lonesome? i know mike still had input in all tracks but still i highly doubt it would've been like gravity. this simple sound has come about because they wanted to try somethin new because they couldnt see a way to evolve in the direction they were going with happiness/spiritual machines(this is my opinon of course on the basis on what i've heard and whatever). all power to em. im just glad im enjoying the new stuff . gonna stop now before i start one of those gravity is good/crap arguments.

How about we all calm down about this and get reacquainted with older music? Bands like Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel miss you. Go ahead, listen to them.
In other words, there's other music out there. Just go to a record store, ask for someone to pick out a great cd for you, and listen to it. It will tide you over until the new OLP album comes out in...well...whenever it comes out.

Yeah but it seems they always tour the USA first.
actually who really knows the holdup? There hasn't been any offical word from the band, or even SONY, or their management company. Everything now is speculation. We don't know anything. We know they recorded a bunch of songs. We don't know if those songs are even going to make it on the CD.We don't even know for sure if all the songs we heard over the past 2 years will make it to CD.
The CD will be released when it is ready to be released. What is the big deal anyway if it comes out June, August or Early January. We have enough OLP material to hold us over. I know I can wait to the new CD comes out, because there are so many aritst I like releasing or have released material this year.
