Hard drugs are bad for you. There's no way you can say thats not true. They're not simply 'not the greatest for you' they're destructive. You get addicted, plain and simple. You cannot go on living a normal, healthy life because all you're thinking about is getting your next fix. On top of that, Doug's Drugs here would probably be advertising, and suddenly heroin is the new 'cool' thing to do. It has its advantages and its downfalls. Besides, what would you do if someone DID die? Me smells a hefty lawsuit...

Anyway, this is really not the point. I think I've gotten quite off topic

^ It's all true though........one of my BEST friends, who smokes marijuana regularly, says "oh, I don't have a problem" and yadda yadda yadda.

Yet, last nite, he was BITCHING because his "dealer" told him to get a hold of him between 8:30-9:00, and this was going on 10:30 and the dude still wasn't answering his celli or his home phone.

If my friend didn't have a problem because of the crap.....then he wouldn't be getting completely pissed off about the situation.

 I know I'm totally off the point of the thread too, but I simply wanted to make that statement

Ethics schmethics. People want to get high. I want to get rich. that's all there is to it. i need everyone to apply a normal amount of perspective here and consider the following:

Doug's Drugs won't be producing products that kill people. At least, we'll be trying very hard to make sure that "death" is not a listed side effect of use of our product. That's a tough sell you see.

i remain firm in my belief that no drug cartel could compete for long with a corporation. in fact, why would the "cartels" even have to be cartels? they could just open up their own shops, pay their own chemists, and join the world of legitimate businessmen.

Remember when alcohol was prohibited? there were illegal, violent booze dealers. now it's legal and you don't need a dealer, you just go to 7-11.

bootleggers never changed from bootleging to leguit buisness. there's not a single brewery today that has a history of bootlegging. they moved on from bootlegging into drugs, and murderer's for hire. that doesn't help anyone get rich.

The only thing that drug cartels are going to do is have a side buisness (illegal of course) to compensate for lost revenue to your company. Harvesting Organs and killing people for hire is just that option.

People did the drugs in the first place. They knew the consequences and did 'em anyways. If they don't agree to being helped, then jail is just the place for them. I don't make the laws, i just follow them. And these safe injection sites are completely ignoring them.
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

Rob, ever thought to think the laws were wrong? Just a thought....

WHY are laws in place? To protect people, to help people, is that not right? Well, criminal law at least... If thats not what they're doing, they're not good laws. Plain and simple. Throwing them in jail does not benifit anyone.

big post coming up.

My proof? Prescription drugs. These are legal drugs that serve a purpose but if used incorrectly can and will kill you. They have been made as healthy as possible and still side effects exist. You telling me that heroine wouldn't be the same?

safe use of heroin does not kill. and my scientists would be working on stimulants that are non-lethal but provide a similar high. i don't think heroin, in it's present form, is refined a whole hell of a lot before it hits the streets.

overdoses are still a danger, but as you rightly point out, that's true with prescription drugs too. those aren't illegal. irresponsible use of anything can kill. overeating can kill - shall we outlaw food?

So, just like with cigarettes, the cartels get ahold of drugs and sell them for higher prices to twelve-year-olds. Kids get addicted at an early age, and eventually end up dying. So basically, doesn't your idea equal more death for everyone?

this happens because kids want to buy smokes. laws, i find, do little to deter a tenacious human being. if a kid wants to smoke, he will. if he wants to get high, he will. when i was 14 i smoked up a lot. the law didn't stop me and nobody forced it on me. i went looking for pot and i found it.

bootleggers never changed from bootleging to leguit buisness. there's not a single brewery today that has a history of bootlegging. they moved on from bootlegging into drugs, and murderer's for hire. that doesn't help anyone get rich.

The only thing that drug cartels are going to do is have a side buisness (illegal of course) to compensate for lost revenue to your company. Harvesting Organs and killing people for hire is just that option.

but the violence in the booze trade stopped. i am not claiming that legalization of drugs will put an end to all crime. i am saying it will put an end to drug related violence.

If they don't agree to being helped, then jail is just the place for them.

jailing drug addicts while rapists roam free is ridiculous. when the state has successfully jailed every rapist and murderer, then it can pursue drug charges.

You can't tell me that a company making millions of dollars off of drugs really gives a crap if it kills people. People will get hooked and use it even when they know the dangers. So Doug's Drugs will gladly sit back as people abuse and not only harm themselves but others as well as they climb into vehicles, and you will gladly watch over and count your millions.

i give a crap, because death is bad for business! therefore, i'm going to try and make sure that there's as little death as possible.. i'm likely to get sued as it is, aren't i?

i'd like to reduce my liablity as much as possible. the fewer people who die while injecting dougs drugs, the better. as for the impaired driving thing, well that's on them and not me. i didn't hand them the keys and i don't reccommend anybody drive while buggered on my product.

Oh so someone can sue you over your drugs? How is this different than making your drugs illegal? The law is required for both.

With the chances of you getting sued over such potent drugs so high, this will likely boost the cost of your product. Not a good thing for addicts who likely spend any and all the money they have on the drug. This means they won't want to buy your overpriced drug and look elsewhere to get it. Enter the dealers who aren't concerned with killing people like your beloved business. And you guessed it, we're back to square one.

And going back to my prescription drug argument, do you intend to have Doug's drugs prescription as well? I ask this because you countered my example with "see legal drugs kill too". But what I'm saying is that is WHY they are prescription and not available to the public. So in essence so should Doug's drugs.

tylenol kills if you take enough of them.

lawsuits are a part of our culture now, Corey. I'm sure even if nobody ever dies using Doug's Drugs, the company would be sued because some junkie missed work on account of his getting high. it's part of being a big business.

the cost of my product will not go up to the point where street dealers could be competitive. street dealers will be moving on to new careers once corporations get involved.

simple economics: mass produced goods are cheaper then not mass produced goods. competition drives the price of products down. there would be plenty of both of these factors. a few lawsuits isn't going to cause my company to take a loss.

Doug's drugs would be availble to everyone. use responsibly.

the violence in the booxe trade stopped but it didn't go away. it just came up in a different form....drug violence. legalizing drugs is going to end drug related violence within the cartels, but will rise in society itself because addicts will steal/murder/ect. to go to your place for their drugs. Violence is still present, your just masking it.
