You're from Salmon Arm? That's crazy. I have so many friends in Salmon Arm. How old are you?
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

reno_ruelas wrote:Hey...Dammit...I asked a question.
oh yes

ok years back we had a prime minister who was Pierre Trudeau, Justin's father. He was the first internationally reknown PM from Canada and was really the first to tell the American president to screw himself and that we don't need them.
He was an everyday guy really, charismatic, and outspoken. Anyways he's viewed as the god of Canadian PM's to a lot of ppl while others feel he was our downfall because he spent a lot of money.
Personally I think he was the greatest PM we've ever had but thats just what I think based on what I've been told by people who were around when he was PM. I've read articles and excerpts about him but the comments you hear from the public are the ones that give you a sense of what he meant to Canada.
So now Justin is 30 years old. He pretty well has the same qualities as his father, he's extremely intelligent and has a little more charm and a little better people skills than his father, not too mention he's a heart throb to a lot of girls. Anyways it's been touted for years that the Liberals are just waiting for him to decide he wants to be in politics and when he does he will be the saviour of the party and the country. It's pretty well a given that once he becomes party leader he will be PM, and a lot of Canadians (I for one) can't wait till he decides to throw his hat in the ring.
It's hard to explain, but Justin kinda exemplifies everything it is too be Canadian, and a lot of people and I mean a lot are able to relate to him and what he has to say.

I'd have to highly doubt it... especially since most schools don't even teach the war of 1812, and thats even a part of American history as well as Canadian.

pierre trudeau and justin trudeau are heroes to canada.
eastern canada.
while i hate all politicians equally, trudeau was the idiot that drove our dollar into the shitter with his ridiculous anti-american trade policies and general attitude. i'll never forgive him for that, piece of shit.
i can hardly imagine his kid being any better.

kinda but not really... see JFK wasn't popular in public standards until after his death. It's been reported that he won the election with between 50-60% of the vote but after he died nearly 85% of ppl in America claimed to have voted for him. So his popularity grew after he was killed to the point where people were claiming to have voted for him when in fact they didn't

As I stated earlier, not everyone views him as a great PM but the vast majority would claim that he's the best we've had.
And i've had conversations with ppl from BC about this topic and they seem to agree with me so I guess it's not just easterners who feel he was good for the country.

young kids, maybe. the majority of BC just voted in that uber con [ can't remember his name ] premier so it's pretty obvious where they stand.
the only good thing trudeau ever did was die.
if i had to pick a best canadian PM, i'd probably go with one of the first ones, just because the government was smaller back then.

actually first off they were friends of the family and are in their late 40's...
talk about a kid who is just trying to rebel, no wonder Venom made those comments in that other thread, it's comments like you just made which make everyone else look bad, and sound as if they know little to nothing.

don't question my political knowledge. i know more about this country and the modern world now then you likely ever will.
fact: provinces west of manitoba are conservative. take a look at the BC and AB parliments if you need proof of that.
fact: trudeau was a very liberal prime minister.
fact: liberals and conservatives are generally opposite when it comes to the hair-thin issues that seperate canadian politics.
fact: it is because of pierre trudeau's actions that we now have a huge debt and a shitty dollar.
i'm not "trying to rebel". i have put the last 3 years of my life, heart and soul, into politics. don't start challenging me on the foundations of my beliefs. at least i have some, unlike the majority of you.

FACT-Ontario has a conservative govt as well... so your point prooves nothing.
FACT- Trudeau was a liberal, therefore he had every right to act as a liberal
the point about the economy is merely an opinion though, some people view his spending as the downfall but others see it 180 degrees differently.
You know very little about what I know about politics and if I didn't know anything about them I would certinaly not post things in political topics. SO please do not try and make yourself sound superior when you're giving basic everyday grade 7 history knowledge that any Canadian should know.
I'd just like to know what makes your opinion of how much superior your knowledge is compared to everyone else (incl. mine) valid.
Do you have some sort of PhD that you haven't mentioned? or do you simply read the newspaper everyday?

i really don't give a shit about ontario's government. my point is, and i can't believe you're actually disputing this, that the western provinces are conservative. jesus man, BC has a separtist party too, you know.
really, trudeau didn't have any right to do any of the shit that he did, but i suppose that's for a different discussion. i pointed out his liberal status to make a point about the west not liking him, nothing more. i really don't see a whole world of difference in canadian political parties so it makes no difference to me as to which one he belonged to. however, to the less educated, that is important and as a result, trudeau is not like by people who vote conservative.
also, i'm not going to sit here and get into a pissing match with you over which one of us knows "more" about politics. i don't care. i was only trying to indicate that i do have a vast knowledge of the subject, and in fact have never met anyone, save for maybe my brother, whose knowledge even came close to matching mine.

I've never once claimed I knew more than anyone on this board and I was cimply asking why you claimed your superiority.
Obviously this is going no where, and should be put to rest, you can debate this topic for years until Justin gets in to the PM slot but it won't matter anyways.
I'm tired of this "east vs west" debate, You seem to have a hate for the eastern section of our country, one that I cannot comprehend since I obviously don;t know nearly as much as you supposedly do.
FACT - Liberals will remain in power of the federal govt for decades to come, and until the other parties can get their act together nothing will change when it comes to that.
Thats it, thats all...

re: Trudeau's value to western canada. Remember when he died and jean chretien decided to rename Mt Logan after him? remember how well that went over with us westerners?
he was contraversial, and popular. but the split in kanada had existed long before trudeau ever came into power and he never did anything to bridge that gap.
kanada is a premium example of the problem with demockracy. you have a nation that is split in two. on the western side of the country, almost nobody voted for the liberals. basically every seat that opposition has came from Alberta, Manitoba and BC.
the western provinces are being forced to pay a government they don't believe in. people in ontario who have no idea what it's like to be an albertan elect a government for the entire nation and by voting bind millions to their will.
it's a sham. kanada is the greatest failure of demockracy.
