About the consummation - that is an old law. it does say that sexual intercourse is needed for a marriage to be legal and binding - that if you do not fulfuil that requirement (within a certain number of days-i recall it being 4, but i could be wrong) then either partner can have the courts annul the wedding.

it is not to say if you don't have sex then the marriage isn't legal - it still is. you do not NEED to have sex for a marriage to be legal, but it's a safety valve of sorts (outdated and redundant i believe, but it hasn't been removed from law as of yet)

i actually know of a couple that got an anullment based on this...they were young (18 and 20) and when he was too nervous to get it up, they realized that they werent ready for marriage *note, this is an oversimplified version of what happened. there was much agony, soul-searching, arguement, etc. invovled* and went to the courts, declared they had not consummated their marriage, and so the courts recognized that their marriage never in fact existed.

hmm. i thought my law textbook said that annullment was the courts declaring that a marriage had never existed.

Why can't you be my teacher? Honestly now. I'm so fucking tired of the bullshit my school feeds me every goddamn day. I even questioned my teacher on what she was saying and she just kept saying that it was true, there in black and white. Then told me to be quiet. Thanks for clearing that up, Claire

Really now, my school fucks with everything. I refuse to believe anything they tell me anymore. They're all useless.

I pay attention when I need to. Like when we take down notes, that she doesn't explain. Or when she hands out the assignment we have to do. Or when she's telling me that she doesn't have the work I handed in, so i must not have handed it in, when in reality she lost it. Or when I shouldn't ask questions because it's midterm report card time and the teachers are very stressed. Yes, it must be rough, I mean having the marks in front of you and just typing them, then copying and pasting some generic comments, while changing the name. Damn stressful is it. Can you believe she has to do that for 3 classes? One of them is fashion you know. I mean I can really see why she doesn't need me asking if she marked a part of our ISU that we needed to have back, we only handed it in back in the middle of october. I guess, I was just being impatient.
