(he was trying to find out about their mother, since at this point her knew they were twins and that Vader/Anakin was their father). I took it that she knew she was adopted, though she didn't know who her real parents were.

Also, (just found this) on the official Star Wars website, her official biography reads:

Leia has few memories of her true mother, Padmé Amidala. All that Leia can recall is that she was beautiful, but sad.

I thought of one though.

In Empire Strikes Back, Obi-Wan says "That boy is our last hope." and Yoda comes back with "No, there is another." Wouldn't Obi-Wan realize that Leia would be a possibility too? He was there when the two were split.

Good point. The only thing that I can think of is that Obi Wan is thinking of the prophecy about one bringing balance to the force. Either Anakin will do it indirectly (by bringing Luke into the world, who literally brings balance to the force), or they misinterpreted the prophecy and Luke is really the chosen one. If he was thinking of the latter, it may have been long assumed that the chosen one would be male (perhaps there was still some gender bias back when the prophecy was first foreseen/written).

More likely though, Lucas wasn't planning on Obi Wan knowing Padmé had twins, and didn't plan on Obi Wan witnessing their birth.

It's also possible Obi-Wan didn't consider the idea of Leia having force powers, too. He might have just assumed Luke was the only one in the family with the force, apart from daddio.

That's possible, since he probably knew who Princess Liea was, and had never heard anything about her using force powers.

Plus, he had spent a great many years observing Luke, so he was probably just concentrating more on him than his sister.
