If Norton's trial period runs out... uninstall it and reinstall it. It starts over. :thumbs:

ohh i didn't think to do that .. cuz the free trial came with my computer so i had it free for 90 days ..

Help!

I use AVG for anti-virus. I just upgraded to version 7. Unfortunately, I didn't realize (nor was I warned) that AVG7 has major compatability issues with Roxio CD & DVD Creator 6, which I also use. Now AVG won't load, and I have to go through the "windows did not start correctly" screen every time, choosing "start in last known good configuration".

So, I'm currently unprotected until they fix this issue (AVG is apparently meeting with Roxio on Dec 6th to try to fix the problem). I can't really uninstall Roxio since I don't have the installation files for it - my computer repair guy installed it to replace my older version last time.

What should I do?

I could go with a different CD burning software - but what? I'd want something that can burn both music CDs (obviously), and data disks (don't care about DVDs).

Help!

Did your computer just shut off in the middle of start up? That happened to me today and I had to go to the 'start in last known good configuration' thing.

However, after that happened, everything seems to be working fine. AVG works but I haven't used Roxio.

I use Nero. It works good with my shitty computer. AVG worked with my Nero. Other than that, I don't know what else to say.

Nope. It's an issue with Roxio, I'm fairly sure of that. I checked AVG's forums, and lots of people are having the same issue. First I tried reinstalling AVG a couple of times with slightly different configurations, but then I found out about the Roxio issue.

Apparently it has the same issue with Nero.

This is with the new AVG 7, so if you're still running on 6, you wouldn't have a problem.

But you will have a problem, since they're going to stop supporting 6 in december.

that depends on if you have partitions and how much free space you have for virtual memory

basically
windows uses a portion of your hard drive as virtual memory
it allows it to basically increase the "power" your computer has by increasing the amount of information it can handle
the amount of space allocated to this isnt that large but when you're c: drive (the drive where windows is installed) starts running low or out of space, that can decrease the efficency of how windows operates because the amount of virtual memory is lowered significantly

the part about partitions basically means you take an existing hard drive and "break it up" into sections which "reduces" the amount of space one has overall but if there is a problem with a specific section you wont lose information on ALL the sections when that one section is formatted
