Taken directly from my GWU entrance essay:

"At George Washington University, I found all those things, and feel that continuing my education in such a rich environment would give me the knowledge, experience, and edge that I will need to be successful throughout my life."

*vomit* Imagine an entire essay filled with this nonsense.

"Since I am not completely sure of what my major and career will be yet, by immersing myself in the city atmosphere I am open to any career path and internship that I decide on. While there are other cities which provide these oppurtunities, I feel that none are as culturally vivid as Washington."

I am honostly making myself sick. What kind of sef-respecting college makes you write an essay based soley on why you want to go there. If they need to put a warning "not to copy the viewbook!", they are obviously just looking to boost their self esteem.

ug i had the same prob. everything i was writing was such crap. i couldn't take it, i was up to my neck in bs.

so then i just went off a tangent and started my essay like this:

"Incredulously I stared at the strange, dark hole in the ground, my mouth gaping wide open. I looked back over my shoulder once more to check the sign on the door. No, I hadn't made a mistake, this was the women's room. I examined the hole again, thinking that perhaps this bathroom was in disrepair. Slowly a web of shock and horror began to ensnare me as I realized that no, this toilet was not broken - I was supposed to squat! Slowly I backed out of the so called "toilette," never removing my appalled eyes from that repulsive hole in the ground. Now I was going to have to wait until the next rest stop. I'd been in France for a measly two hours and already I was overwhelmed by culture shock."

Hi, this is me studying for the calc exam that I am bound to fail. How fitting I take the toughest exam on Friday the 13th, eh? Maybe I can break a mirror while walking under a ladder with a herd of black cats running by me. Meh.

I was recording myself singing today, and I realized what I sound like. I am a cross between Chris Conley of Saves The Day meets Robert Goulet (if people here don't know, he's like a guy that sings at Las Vegas casinos nightly) and let me tell you, it's not a pretty mix. I think I am gonna give up singing from now on.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Kim, that's good
I love it when they give topics that are a little easier to write about. One of mine is on snowboarding

"The air is cold, my breath comes out in short white clouds in front of my face. The air is still, the kind of still that seems like it will shatter any moment; like glass. As I gaze out I see the white luminous forms of mountains, the sun just visible from behind the peaks"

Yessss.........because that has ANYTHING to do with college.
*sigh* But GWU, this is crap, I tell ya.

Where are you applying?

ug, here's the list of colleges that are way too expensive for me to go to but that i applied to anyway:

NYU, Boston U, Bowdoin, Bard College, McGill

and crappy state schools:

SUNY Purchase, SUNY Geneseo.

NYU and McGill are my first choices but NYU is soooo damn expensive, we could almost do mcgill, but idk. heh, first i gotta get in.

what others are you applyin to?

I'm going snowboarding tomorrow. I've done it 3 times and I'm intermediate already. Or the instructer just had a liking towards me . ;)

The first few times are the hardest. Then you get really good really fast. Then you sort of level off and learn tricks and stuff.

Kim, I'm applying to George Washington,University of Toronto, UCLA, University of Southern Cali, and Northeastern.

UCLA and Northeastern are my top two choices. I doubt I'll get into UCLA though. Students from the Northeast (our 6 states) make up 4% of their student body or something ridiculous. Its like if you live out here you have to have a 4.0 and be superwoman, but if you live in Cali you just have to be breathing

My friend just got into Dartmouth today 8O He was so psyched. He's pretty smart, but he is a fucking amazing runner.......so every school in the world wants him :P

Spring will be the most nerve-wracking time. I can't handle rejection..........then I have to make a decision. I hate making big decisions too. I'm aready freaking out about it, and I'm not even done applying.
