So do I, but its not HUGE, like any of the other big canadian acts. They were huge for a few months maybe, but in the long run, how many people can sing supermans dead, compared to how many people can sing "complicated", or one of those shania twain songs.

What the hell are you people talking about? Clumsy was fucking HUGE. At that time you couldn't go anywhere without seeing them. They were big enough to start their own tour! Our Lady Peace was definately was at one point the biggest thing in the canadian music scene. If you look back to like '97 ish, they were on the cover of every magizine, their album was one of the biggest selling of the year they won MMVA's and all that shit. And then, when Happiness came out...you couldn't turn on Much without seeing the OMA video. Or later when Thief was released that was played every 5 minutes on the radio.

My god. Our Lady Peace was like Nickelback when they blew up except the bad hair and repetitive songs.
I can't claim to know how much of this went into the states but the Tragically Hip have never been big down there and they are concidered one of Canada's best bands.

Our Lady Peace may not be like Avril where everything she touches turn to gold but they were absolutely one of the most famous bands in Canada and I find it hard to believe that they are not now.

we could have just directed anyone who got offended to one of the threads about the issue so they could read my thoughts.

Ahhh come on, dont be sarcastic. I know you used it in a completely different context, unrelated to homosexuals, but it is, a really, really ugly word.

getting back to huge for one more minute..

I was talking a friend abou tthis las tnight.. She lives in Canada..

she said in comparison to people like Bryan Adams, Shania, Celine and The HIP.. OLP aren't huge..

I don;t know. It all boils down to people's perception of what huge is.. Either way fun seeing everyone's opinon on how huge or not huge OLP are in Canada when this is a thread on Bob and Metallica..

I'd even go as far as saying that they weren't as popular as the Barenaked Ladies, which is... sad. But understnadable, because the Barenaked Ladies appealed to a HUGE amount of people, who weren't serous music fans.

Funny thing is I saw the BNL when I saw OLP at the benefit shows.. Concert for Toronto and Music Without Borders... I have gone to two fo their solo shows though. One at Madiosn Square Garden. I went cause Chantal was one of the opening acts.. I also find it funny how Chantal has played MSG, but Raine hasn't...
