I don't think ebay can really do anything about it to be quite honest. It isn't their fault that you put an extra 0. I'm sure they get a few complaints daily from people who bid on stuff one week and then find a week later when the bid is over that they don't have the cash for it so they claim they typed the wrong numbers, or that someone hacked their profile, or whatever.

It's unfortunate cause there are ligitimate cases where people do make mistakes, like this one, but from E-Bay's point of view they can't really be responsible for the bids on their site.

Yeah, the good thing about ebay is that once you place a bid a confirmation screen always comes up where you still have to click the button to confirm your bid. So if you put the wrong amount in, then you can change it. You'll also get an e-mail immediately after you bid, saying what your max bid was, if you're the high bidder etc... so if you're sure you bid something low and then you get this e-mail saying you bid something high, and you think it's effed up, then take a screen cap of your bid confirmation page on ebay to be safe. However, it's never screwed up for me, so only do it if you think it was a computer error and not your error. It's not worth the effort to save screen caps if you've never had an actual problem.
