83's you can. Easily.

But High School math tested things like factoring that you can do on the 89 but not the 83, hence the difference.

Besides, I had mine since grade 11 and I haven't become dependant. We had to do a Math Placement Test to do math in University, which was 100 questions testing your high school math knowledge without the use of ANY type of calculator. I got a 95. w00t.

omg i am math-retarded. no joke. i had to place into a math test for college and got into 090, which is not even a 100 level class which means it DOESN'T COUNT BUT I HAVE TO TAKE IT. geez louise. although i haven't been in a math class since 11th grade. oh well, at least i only have to take pre-calc in college.

At my school they force you to become dependent on them. They won't teach you how to do trig without them. So basically if you ever need trig you need the calculator because they won't teach it any other way.

No they taught us sohcahtoh, but they don't do a non calculator part at my school. My teacher actually said that, all trig done at my school will be done with a graphing calculator, so it is in your best interest to buy one.

Yeah some questions could only be done using a graphing calculator, in fact parts of the test were made specifially for your knowledge on how to use it.

At the moment i'm in grade 11, but I don't have math until next semester. My grade 10 math teacher always said we would be using the calculators all through highschool though not learning hwo to without it, but then again she is an idiot.

my old school had graphing calcs, they wouldnt let you bring in your own ti-83 since they didnt want people archiving things and cheating and stuff. my new school you need to have one, and can bring it to every test. actually, you learn everything on your own from the guide, so you can use your calculator for everything. even things that i wouldn't have been allowed to use it for in my old school. i feel the math knowldege leaking out of my brain.
