I heard that the drive helps with loading times, other than that, I'm not too sure what other use it has. I know for a fact that RE: OutBreak can be installed in there, and the drive cut the loading times in half. Down from 12 seconds to 6 seconds.

I love the fact that Xbox can store your music.
Another bonus: NO FREAKIN MEMORY FUCKING CARDS!! Like I've said before, I have about 25 game saves already on my Xbox harddrive and I haven't even cracked the default number of 50,000 blocks. You'll never need a memory card, ever.
Yes, you do need to spend like 25-30 bucks in order to play DVD's, but that's a matter of choice I suppose. I have it, just for shits 'n giggles. Plus, its sweet because if you buy the connection cable.....you can upload music from your computer to your Xbox, and then back again.
I intend on buying the Xbox Music Mixer, which is basically a kareoke machine when installed into the Xbox. The Xbox rips the lyrics from the song, and allows you to sing using the attached microphone. You can then take your songs and mix them "DJ Clue Style", make your own music videos.....and then rip the songs to the computer for the whole world to hear.

I'm telling ya Joey, the masses are saying PS2 because they don't know what they're missing. A huge (and 33% useless/worthless) game catalog can't even surpass the greatness of the Xbox.
Hell I owned a PS2 and a Gamecube and sold both of them on ebay for DIRT because they just aren't worth it after owning a PS2. I've had two friends who owned PS2's come play my Xbox, and buy an Xbox several weeks later.
I don't know a single Xbox owner that had sold their soul to PS2.

Store music you can do right away, don't need anything extra. I have a shit load of music on mine for when I feel like playing Grand Theft Auto. Like I said, I haven't cracked the default memory block count of 50 freakin thousand

you'll never need memory cards. And memory cards BLOW.
To play DVD's you need to buy the attachment, which you can get from most major retailers. It'll cost ya between 25-30 USD. It's a remote and an attachment that you plug into one of the controller slots. (I have it in the 4th slot cuz I only have 3 controllers right now).

To get it from your computer to the xbox you need to purchase that adapter also. I think it's probably some sorta cable similar to ethernet cable. The xbox will play (and rip) from standard cds. But of course, not burned cds.
You can put in the regular cd....play it as you want. Or, you can choose particular songs to have saved to your Xbox harddrive. You can listen to it when you want - or certain games (Like GTA3 and Vice City) allow you to play your "custom soundtracks" during the game. I love listening to "One Man Army" and "Cold Hard Bitch" while driving around playing Vice City.

Forgive me but, is that the only reason why you're considering buying an X-Box? Just to store and play music in it?

The fact of the matter is, you're paying a whole lot for a gaming system, so I'd recommend that you go with the one with the best games.

i checked out some of the game selection on amazon and x box seemed to have plenty of games .. plus it has both tony hawk games i want and the snowboarding game i want .. plus nhl 2004 .. i'm quite content .. for me it's not about the games .. but the better system .. and from the reviews i read, x box is better when it comes to speed and graphics, plus storing music is an added bonus

So... Your gaming system choice isn't about the games?

what's the point of having an assload of games when the system sucks? like i said, i checked it out and x box had all the games i wanted and more .. so why not get the best of both worlds? i'm not some gaming nerd that will be sitting in front of my x box all day
