It may be commercialized but you dont have to be a part of that aspect of Christmas to enjoy it.

The same goes for every other holiday.

I geuss I'm not getting my point across very well. That is what I meant. Yes...it's very commercialized, it still means something to people.

Yeah, but I am just being bitter about the holidays. Commericalism has gone too far with certain holidays but thats not why I hate them. I have nothing against people celebrating happily either. I just dislike those people who have a bad christmas because they got less then 5 grand worth or useless crap.

anyways, enough of that bull shit.

The best gift I think would be a CD of sorts, likely something he wants or has been drooling over or would simply suit his tastes.

Though then there are the creepy guys who don't like music. I know someone like that. Doesnt own a single CD. Listens to the radio all the time. Strange person....For a case like that I would go to the local gag shop. Something random, useless but would give hours of mindless entertainment. You can't go wrong there. (Like Sea Monkeys. Everyone loves Sea Monkies!!!)

i was going to give him a single red rose, home made cookies/brownies and then a cd he really wants.

Awesome idea!!! Baking and making stuff is always the best way to go :) It's sweet and shows that you put time into it. :) And good idea with the rest too...

I've just been out to get my boyfriend's present. We've only been together about a month so I haven't got anything....Valentinesy. I got him a book, a CD and some rum and raisin fudge (there's a story behind that, lol). I'm really worried about giving it him, actually. I don't know why. :/

Do you think it's bad that I haven't bought a card?

My girlfriend lives in Rhode Island. So yeah, umm, kind of hard to spend time with her at the moment, so yeah, that sucks. So, to be sweet, I sent her a bunch of cds in the mail (because she's a huge scenester) that she needs to listen to so she can understand me. She's dedicating her radio show to me tonight. So I have to stay in and listen.

I gave myself a bottle of Jaggermeister and a couple Red Bull's for Valentines Day. I love me.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I'm in the same boat as you .. my bf and I have only been together about a month too. I bought him a cd, only for him to tell me later on that night that he was downloading it .. so yeah, I have a new cd now :freak: I didn't buy him a card either .. it's too hard finding one that says the right thing when you've only known them for such a short time. I made cookies for him today .. we're not doing much .. I'm spending the night at his house and that's about it.

Yeah. That's all we did - I went to his for the evening. He bought me a CD, some chocolates and a rose :D . In retrospect, I think I got a bit too much. But I'm stealing the book once he's read it so it's all good.

Yeah, I looked at cards too. As you said, none of them said the right thing. He got me a funny one. Which I suppose would have been a cunning plan but y'know...I'm stupid.

My Valentine's was crap, not that I care that much. I made $70 babysitting for 5 hours. :freak: These people were loaded, it was crazy.

Without you I'm as good as
dead ...

Ack. I spent my Valentines day collecting participants for Tuesdays Blood Drive, Delivering roses that we were selling to raise money for someone who needs a double lung and liver transplant, distributing surveys for some school ring project, organizing the memorial for the Ocean Ranger....and trying to go to class. I didn't even have time to be scathing and bitter or waste my money on fake valentines to freak out my friends. Damnit.

I am the only person who actually has the ambition to do these things. Everyone else signs up so they can have something to put on resumes and collage applications. Now my Valentines day ended up being terrible, and my anti-Valentines day was wasted.

actually... that sounds like a pretty good valentines day.

better than any of us had i bet.

i think your experience of valentines day should be more what it's about, rather than sitting around pissing and moaning about being alone or gorging on wine, chocolates, and cornbread like my friends and i did.

see, I was looking forward to that. But I didn't get to do it.

I was all about the pissing and moaning about shit that doesnt have any relivance whatso ever and feeling bad about it. But insted I had to interrupt teachers in school, and go around harrassing people and trying to act like I gave a damn. Then I had to plan on a Saturday when I have a long weekend. That is just not cool.

Why am I not aloud to sit at home alone?!?!

And on top of it all the only thing I got was something from my mom. Which was really nice of her, but totally emphasized the point that I have sent shit to my friends when they feel bad about being alone on valentines day and I literally got nothing. So the Day after Valentines (cause my mom only got back today) I got to whine about how Valentines sucked....but it really didn't have the same feeling as if you did that on the actual day.

I had a great Valentines... First off, the whole weekend at this awesome hotel in Manhattan...with a hot tub in our room! I made him a sock monkey... because my gift idea had been ruined. I baked for him last year so I didn't want to do the same thing... so I was gonna get him a bouquet of cookie roses from this store, but the store disappeared (which made me want to cry)... so I sewed him a sock monkey, which I named Weldon after this 300 pound gay guy that hit on him (I was like, "Weldon wants to sleep with you, baby!" and he just gets this look on his face and was like, "The monkey is not named Weldon") and I wrote him a very long list of reasons why I love him and things that I love about him.

He got me lots of stuff and took me out to this fancy place for dinner... where a couple got engaged that night. It was cute.

Oooh, and these are my roses.
Image
It was sweet because he remembered white was my favorite kind...which it was amazing that he would even remember something as dumb as that.

This weekend was awesome because I forgot how great it is just to get to sit and talk to him without having other things to worry about.

....and I am such a dork.

Me and a group of my friends went to a movie together because according to my friend Jen 'We're all dateless freaks'. The movie we went to wasn't even the one we wanted to see because sobey square is annoying and doesn't get movies until about a week after they come out.
