Fast Food Nation... I just got done reading that. For a factual book, it was a pretty interesting read because it's half story, half fact. It's very eye opening too, but I don't think I would've read it purely for entertainment.

Other than that, I haven't read any books that stick out in my head as amazing in a long, long time. Some books I read as a kid that I'd definitely recommend are:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Where The Red Fern Grows

if you think that's hard try Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man by james joyce. it will kick your ass.

for my part i recommend One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

i didn't like shadow of the hegemon quite that much. ender's shadow starts out better than ender's game, but ender's game is more emotional and less cocky.

i saw the movie "one flew over the cuckoo's nest". didn't know there was a book for that.

whatever you do, don't read "a handmaid's tale" by margaret atwood. it's pure evil packaged for sabotage in a book-shaped...book...

I saw the movie, then I decided to read the book for a project for english, and it quickly became one of my favorite books. I spent about 4 months studying it.

Where the Red Fern Grows was the only book I took with me when I went to Peru for a month, so I read it like 34258293856 times, I heart it :)

Best book ever: The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. I had to go and buy a new book, the old one was so torn apart from me reading it so much.

I wasn't too fond of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest... we read it last lear in English... It was a great concept but I just didn't like Kesey's style...
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Whatever you do, never read Maugham's "Of Human Bondage". The title is very misleading. You go in expecting kinky sex, and what you get is an endlessly boring and depressing account of some guy's boring and depressing life.

Wow, scary... I just watched an episode of Buffy today with a guy who read Of Human Bondage and used it as a "security blanket".

Eddie: 'Of Human Bondage.' Have you ever read it?
Buffy: Oh, I'm not really into ..porn... I mean I'm just... I'm trying to cut way back.

 I love that show.

Or really cheesy in a horrible way? Hmm, makes ya think.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I am currently reading Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood, and I think it's wonderful.[/u]

I started to read this book at Chapters once. It was so interesting, I still need to pick it up. I learned quite a few facts from just reading a couple chapters.
