actually most of western civilization's laws and ideals come from rome, which were formed much much before rome became a christian nation, and as for what Aerin said early it didn't seem like anyone wanted to touch it so maybe i'll ask again
Why is it ok for knowinly infertile men to have sex with there spouce but gay couple may not?

I'm curious as to why an anarchist would be willing to submit their freedom to a god or gods but decry living in a governed society?

I agree with Galaxia (yes I know she posted a while ago, but whatever). Love is all about being tolerant. How many times have your friends/significant other/parents/etc. done something that you don't agree with but you've continued to love them anyways? It's necessary to accept what others believe or do. You can't simply change a person because you don't agree with their choices.
Homosexuality can be tolerated or it can be embraced and believed in. Neither of these options is worse or better than the other. Some people (like me) choose to love homosexual people for who they are, but don't agree with their lifestyle. Nothing is wrong with that at all. The same goes for people who dislike Christianity. You may dislike the religion, but are you going to treat a Christian badly or badmouth his/her religion just because of his/her choices? Hopefully not.
Embracing and believing is different. In this situation, you tolerate the person and you support their beliefs. Both of these forms of accepting people should be (for lack of a better word) accepted.
And yes, I agree that religion sucks. Religion is made by people; the actual beliefs are what should be considered. Just because I myself am a Christian doesn't mean that I believe everything that the church says. Religion is very ignorant to people, though people created it. Ironic.
Oh geez, I hope that made sense.

Sorry if it didn't.

I don't understand the big deal about homosexuality anyway. So what, someone chooses to be with the same sex, rather than the opposite sex. It's none of your concern. If that person chooses to be homosexual (or was born homosexual if you believe it to be that way), then so be it, no one is forcing you to be with the person, so just accept that person the way he or she is. If you grow up and get past the fact that they don't have the same sexual orientations as you, you'll find they're just like you and can be really good people.

It's just the fact that so many people are so ignorant these days. My brother didn't choose to be homosexual, I don't really think anyone chooses. If he could, he'd probably want to like females instead because it's so much easier and so much more accepted than liking guys.

i decry force, aerin, government, leadership, control etc. all have very little to do with it.
i am all about choice, and so, coincidently, is God.

1. Yes, the Bible does condemn homosexual acts:
1 Corinthians 6: 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders.
2. The Bible is not about tolerance. The Bible is about compassion. Parents usually don't "tolerate" bad behavior. They try and correct it, and punish when necessary. They are compassionate towards the child committing the bad behavior, though.
In a similar way, God isn't tolerant towards sin. Hence the eternal fire and damnation for those who die in their sin. He is, however, compassionate towards those who sin, hence the whole "Jesus dying on the cross" thing.
3. I don't "believe" that sexual orientation is a choice, and neither does any reputable scientist. Genetics does influence orientation. The current notion is that only for borderline cases does nurture affect orientation at all.
4. I don't see how "choose me or burn in hell for all of time" is any different than "follow my laws or get arrested." If anything, I'd actually say the first one is much much worse, what with the eternal consequences.

it's still a choice. eat or die isn't much of a choice either, but it's a choice none the less.

sorry, could one of you to answer my question?

well then you can choose to get arrested if you don't like laws
by your logic
which seems flawed in this instance

Disagreeing with homosexuality is not ignorant. It is merely an opinion.
Ignorance simply means the lack of education. People who disagree with homosexuality know what it means to be gay.

yeah, i don't think the teenager that commits suicide because he can't handle the flak from his peers really chose to be that way.

it's a preference like any other i suppose. who knows why we have preferences?

how the hell would you know? this right here is ignorance in action.
pref·er·ence ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prfr-ns, prfrns)
n.
The selecting of someone or something over another or others.
The right or chance to so choose.
Someone or something so chosen. See Synonyms at choice.
for 99% of gay people, being homosexual is not a choice. preference incurs that there is a choice. i.e., i prefer chocolate ice cream over vanilla. if homosexuals had a choice, i bet you almost all would rather be attracted to the opposite sex because it is accepted. but you cannot make yourself be attracted to something that you aren't. I never said disagreeing with homosexuality makes you ignorant, it only does if you blindly follow your religion because said religion tells you homosexuality is wrong. If you got to know some homosexuals before finding out they were gay, you might become friends with them. it's not fair to homosexuals that many people look upon them as if they have the plague. severe homophobes are the people i hate the most.

i beleive that being homosexual is not a choice, but that got me thinking.
if we dont have a choice about our sexual orientation, do we have a choice about who we (or what

) are attracted to?
and this is a very far cry example, but what about people that are sexually attracted to children? i am not saying i agree with this in anyway, but DO they really have a choice...though i spose they could choose not to act on those desires...

They do have a choice......right? (as far as adults loving children) but their desires drive them to MAKE that choice.
Man....that is weird
I'm friends with a girl (she's 20 years old) and has been sleeping with a guy who is 43, married, and she babysits their kids

Easy there. I had a gay roommate and he's one of my best friends. He used to have parties and everyone who attended was gay. I'm pretty sure my Aunt is gay. I worked for a gay guy. So, I've had my fair share of run-ins with homosexuals and respect their lifestyle. Don't get all upset with me.

I have no problem with gays....hell, I've had a couple of gay friends and I even suspect that one of my current guy friends might be in the closet. I have a cousin who is a lesbian and she's in a serious relationship with another woman, and I adore the both of them.
