Hell, if America was truly imperialistic, don't you think Canada would be a part of America? Why else would be buy Alaska from you? It was a ploy to have America take out Canada from both sides at once. We didn't however, so you're lucky not to be a part of America.

Dan wasn't saying we founded Canada, he was saying we help protect it from anything bad happening. Do you think if a country overthrew our government and took control of our land that Canada would last more than a week? It would be overtaken in a heartbeat.

Alaska was sold by Russia to the Americans for 7.5 million dollars
not Canada
Canada had nothing to do with it

Sorry, I used the wrong word. But you cannot deny the fact the only tangible reason we bought Alaska was to overtake Canada. We had no idea of its use for oil and what not, that was dumb luck.

Alan, I realize that the American education system tends to "forget" to teach you about the wars you lost, but please! Iin 1812 the states decided it was time for them to take over Canada and they declared war against us. The army was so shitfaced and badly organized that not only did they fall miserably, but we rolled right into Washington and burned down the White House. That, my dear, is simple history. :)

Forget this, I am sick of being treated like I don't know elementary facts about my country. Whatever, just shut up and think why we would by a piece of shit part of land hundeds of miles from the mainland USA. When you come to the obvious conclusion that what I am saying is right, then you can all burn in hell because you love to give me problems.

Alan please... you said we should be grateful that the States never attacked us and I pointed out that that was untrue. Don't get huffy.

Did we own the land in Alaska in 1812? Think about that one.

The risk of encroachment by Russia had been one of the causes which induced President Monroe to give official utterance to the “Monroe Doctrine.” After his statement, Russia ceased from attempts to increase her influence on the Pacific coast, and became willing to dispose of Alaska, regarding it as a possession difficult to defend and of little value. The territory was formally transferred on Oct. 18, 1867

1. There's your answer as to why Alaska was purchased.

2. Canada became a country in 1867. We existed already. And we would have fought, with large empires on our side (Britain, France, their allies).

and you ate hamiltons dinner cause it was still hot. we didn't lose that war, in fact no one really won that war...it was declared over and britian went off to do it's own thing, while andrew jackson (a personal favorite) slaughtered a bunch of folks in New Orleans.

besides i think we already pointed out the fact that canada does approx 90% of its trade with the US. soooo...... basically you depend on our economy.

plus, yes, as alan pointed out, we could have easily overrun canada anytime in the 90 years.

and yes, if it were not for us, canada would not exist.

it would have either been

A) taken over by russia
B) taken over by germany
or
C) taken over by japan

and i dont remember if it was this thread or not, but chrisaddam said that russia defeated germany........ you ever heard of a little thing call d-day? you know that little thing where we stormed the french coast ??? yea.....
because your mother country got overran like a bunch of pansies.
