Actually, I played the PS2 version, and wasn't big on it. I'm sure the PC version is a lot better though. I may try it out when I get sick of SC4.
Also, those little jumpy things scared the shit out of me.

HL is much better on the PC. You can get Half-life, Counterstrike and Blue Shift all in one box, or you can get the Game of Year version. Which ever you like.

Unreal Tournament looks like a lot of fun.
Half-Life is a first person shooter with a plot. You're Gordon Freeman, a scientist at an underground scientific facility in the desert. A horrible disaster happens during an experiment you're conducting, unleashing freaky monsters, then the miliarty comes in and tries to kill everything. You have to escape.

UT is great. I've beat the first one a few times.

Dude! You've never played Half Life?
That game is really involving! You MUST also play Opposing Forces, and Blue shift.
My Favorite is Blue Shift but it is also the shortest. But it makes up because it comes with a graphic enhancer, so all 3 games look better.
Also, I must reccomend Deus Ex.
I beat it recently, it is definetly one of the longest most involving games I have ever played. A definte buy, it will keep you playign the single player game for at least a week.
